Munich – Bosch Building Technologies sharpens its profile: Starting in January 2026, the Bosch division and its regional units will operate worldwide under the Bosch brand and the unified name Bosch Building Technologies. Since then, the division has experienced significant growth, both organically and through acquisitions. New name – trusted partnership In Germany and the Netherlands, Bosch’s systems integration business has so far been known as Bosch Energy and Building Solutions. The new unified market presence will have no impact on existing contracts or local customer relationships. The legal entities in Europe will also remain unchanged for the time being. The corporate brands Protec in the UK and DMS in Germany will follow at a later stage. The established product names will remain unchanged. Growing together – also in North America In North America, the market presence will also be unified: The companies Climatec and Paladin Technologies, which have previously operated under separate brands, will be merged starting in 2026 and will operate jointly under the Bosch brand and the name Bosch Building Technologies. In vegetation fires, the combination of early detection and accurate information is critical to preventing an initial smoldering fire from developing into a large fire. Bosch Building Technologies` new service Wildfire Detection combines these key aspects into an integrated solution. The use of advanced technologies enables early detection of vegetation fires in forests, recreational areas, natural areas near infrastructure, and outdoor environments close to buildings. Responsible parties and emergency services are automatically alerted and receive all relevant information immediately. This allows countermeasures to be taken quickly and safely."As a partner with many years of experience in networked solutions for fire protection, we are also leveraging the benefits of digitalization, connectivity, and artificial intelligence in our new Wildfire Detection service," says Thomas Reinicke, head of the Solutions Business Life Safety at Bosch Building Technologies. "We're proud to be able to use our expertise in fire protection not only to protect people and property, but also to help preserve nature." Vegetation fires can endanger people and damage the habitats of many animals and plant species. In addition, the fires often cause economic losses. They pose a constant threat to the important forest ecosystem: According to the German Federal Office for Agriculture and Food, a total of 7,500 hectares of forest have been affected by fires in the last five years. This is the equivalent of nearly 11,000 German soccer fields. Wildfire Detection – digital interaction of state-of-the-art technologies The end-to-end solution from Bosch Building Technologies includes a network of special detectors that integrate the intelligent BME690 gas sensors from Bosch Sensortec for early fire detection. The sensors are placed around the vegetation area and use an AI-based algorithm to detect smoke gases in the early stages of smoldering. In addition, they continuously provide information of interest to forestry, such as temperature and humidity. The detectors are energy self-sufficient thanks to a built-in solar panel. They recharge even in cloudy conditions or under a tree canopy. They are designed to operate for ten to 15 years without maintenance. As soon as a sensor triggers an alarm, the potential fire is automatically reported to the fire department and other involved parties in accordance with the "Regulations of Authorities and Organizations with Security Tasks" (BOS). With this alert, Bosch Building Technologies' cloud-based BOS portal provides the control center with all the critical information it needs to guide emergency services safely to the scene. In addition to the exact geographical position of the sensor that reported the possible fire, information on temperatures and weather data, including wind direction and speed, is available at a glance. Bosch Building Technologies' fire safety experts have also integrated an alarm server into the BOS portal. This allows all relevant messages to be sent to firefighters' mobile devices. Complete solution from a single source Based on local requirements and individual customer needs, BT manages the entire process, from consulting to planning, implementation and operation. The size of the network is scalable. This means the solution can be used for early fire detection in small vegetation areas as well as large forest landscapes. Depending on local requirements, the fire protection experts also integrate other modern technologies, such as the video-based early fire detection system Aviotec, which can also be used outdoors. Bosch Building Technologies also offers rapid assistance from the air with a drone service linked to the control center. The transmission of live, high-resolution video can provide emergency services with crucial information for assessing the situation in the event of a fire, saving valuable time. With the Wildfire Detection service, Bosch Building Solutions offers early fire detection for forests in Germany. It is also a comprehensive solution that can be used to protect buildings and infrastructure surrounded by fields and green spaces. The new service is also of interest for storage facilities with highly flammable organic materials such as wood.

Grasbrunn, Germany – Bosch Building Technologies plans to acquire DMS Digitale Mess- und Steuersysteme AG, headquartered in Ettlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. DMS AG offers solutions and services in the areas of building, industrial, process and room automation as well as building and energy management. Corresponding agreements were signed by Bosch and DMS AG on July 18, 2024. It has been agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed. The acquisition is subject to approval by the relevant regulatory authorities.With the purchase of DMS AG, Bosch Building Technologies intends to further strengthen the important growth area of building automation. The acquisition complements the 2019 and 2022 purchases of GFR Gesellschaft für Regelungstechnik und Energieeinsparung – now Bosch Building Automation GmbH – and Hörburger GmbH. Last year, Bosch Building Technologies grew by 25 percent in the building automation sector in Germany, significantly outperforming the market. With the acquisition of DMS AG, Bosch Building Technologies has added the important area of process automation to its range of solutions, becoming a full-service provider for industrial manufacturing companies. The portfolio includes integrated and cross-domain solutions in the areas of building security, building automation, energy efficiency, sustainability consulting and digital services. Grasbrunn, Germany – Since the end of last year, Bosch's artificial intelligence has been safeguarding the world-renowned Aachen Cathedral, which is more than 1,200 years old. Germany's first UNESCO World Heritage site has been equipped by Bosch Building Technologies and the engineering firm plan ing with an intelligent video solution that protects it against a multitude of potential threats. Fires in particular can be devastating for such a historic building of inestimable intangible value – and this is precisely why Aachen Cathedral has opted for the new system, which can detect a potential danger particularly quickly: Over 50 Aviotec cameras from Bosch in 16 rooms use intelligent video analytics to visually detect smoke and flames directly at their source. Thanks to AI algorithms, the video cameras can also differentiate, for example, candlelight from a developing fire. This substantially reduces the likelihood of false alarms. Thus, the cameras respond much earlier than conventional ceiling-mounted fire detectors, which require smoke to rise to them. "We are proud of this globally unique project at Aachen Cathedral," says Dr. Marcus Nadenau, Head of the European system integrator business Energy and Building Solutions at Bosch Building Technologies. "Aviotec offers an invaluable speed advantage in fire detection, especially in buildings with complex layouts and high ceilings," adds Dr. Nadenau.Cathedral master builder Dr. Jan Richarz, who took over the project from his predecessor Helmut Maintz, emphasizes the significance of this technology for the protection of Aachen Cathedral, supported by the Karlsverein / Cathedral Construction Association and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia: "With this video surveillance solution, Aachen is a global leader. AI protects treasures of immeasurable value Aviotec primarily secures the cathedral's interior with its valuable relics and unique artworks, admired by over a million visitors annually. The video solution ensures that visitors can get as close as possible to the many treasures without endangering them: Aviotec raises the alarm if someone enters the virtual exclusion zones around individual exhibits. During the day, it protects the cathedral from vandalism and theft, and at night from break-ins. Thanks to Aviotec, visitor flows can now be managed much more efficiently, as only a limited number of people are allowed in the cathedral at any one time: The previously laborious manual counting of visitors is now undertaken by the video solution. Protecting an important building together Bosch Building Technologies, in collaboration with the engineering firm plan ing, developed and implemented the comprehensive video solution for the cathedral. Every step was closely coordinated with the Cathedral Construction Lodge, whose challenging task is to preserve the cathedral and its treasures for the future. "Aviotec from Bosch offers early fire detection and video security functions in one system, perfectly meeting the special protection needs of this sacred building," says Ralf Wolters from the engineering firm plan ing. "Cutting-edge technology meets centuries-old treasures. This combination has excited me," says the engineer. An advantage of the Aachen solution is its close integration with the local fire department: As soon as one of the Aviotec cameras detects a developing fire, the Aachen professional fire department is informed via the normatively integrated fire alarm system. A monitor shows arriving firefighters live images from the cathedral and informs them about the exact location where the danger was detected. This saves valuable time. Due to the high Aviotec standard, the fire department allowed the solution to be connected to its systems as a special detector. As the world's first system for video-based fire detection, Aviotec was certified by VdS in 2017. Close Coordination with Heritage Conservation To determine the ideal position for each camera within the building, digital floor plans were initially created, followed by an elaborate 3D simulation. Heritage conservation was involved early on, allowing the video system to blend almost invisibly into the existing ensemble. During the installation phase, more than 30 craftsmen worked in the cathedral at times, implementing electricity, lighting, and the new video solution in coordination. For the entire team, it was a special experience to work in a UNESCO World Heritage site.

This new version of its video-based fire detection solution promises to revolutionize fire protection in challenging environments, such as in manufacturing, where hazardous materials that carry high fire loads are stored outdoors, in semi-open spaces, in solar plants or electric car charging stations where wind makes it difficult to detect smoke.Aviotec 8000i IR outperforms aspirating smoke detectors The Aviotec 8000i IR camera achieves on average 3x faster detection times compared to current aspirating smoke detectors* – significantly improving speed. Within its specifications the enhanced AI algorithms also allow for greater reliability and accuracy in distinguishing real fire situations from false alarms. The alarm, based on an actual fire, or trouble signals, can be transmitted to a local network, or by two relays, also to the central fire panel. Trouble signals could for example result from a tilted camera, a blocked lens or a power failure. 24/7 fire protection with integrated infrared (IR) illuminator The new camera further increases fire safety by providing fire protection 24/7 thanks to its integrated infrared (IR) illuminator. Within its specifications it ensures the camera is fully operational even in total darkness (at 0 Lux), reliably detecting smoke and flames with pure infrared illumination. No additional lighting is required, not even any emergency lighting, making it easier and more cost-effective for specifiers and installers to use the camera. Simplified installation Installation of the camera is further simplified by the fact that it is a one-product solution, meaning that no accessories are required. The rugged IP 67 (waterproof) housing, IR-illuminator, new 4-megapixel sensor and motorized lens are all integrated into one unit. In addition, Aviotec´s Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) eliminates the need to install power cables. Expanding applications: Enhancing fire safety in varied environments The new features of the Aviotec 8000i IR camera open up a range of new applications, improving fire safety in particularly challenging environments such as manufacturing, where hazardous materials stored outdoors can easily ignite. Grasbrunn, Germany – With 31.6 million passengers in 2022 and 210 destinations in 63 different countries, Munich Airport is one of Europe’s most important air traffic hubs and has just been named “Best Airport in Central Europe” by Skytrax. Since the airport opened in 1992, Bosch Building Technologies has been an established project partner, with an on-site support team looking after the fire and intruder detection technology, video cameras, and door control system. The analog public address and voice alarm system in Terminal 1 has now been replaced by a wholly IP-based Praesensa system.The world’s largest Praesensa multi-subnet system The installation is based on a large-scale and powerful networking concept with multiple subnets – the biggest Praesensa multi-subnet system anywhere in the world to date. The maximum configuration level enables up to 3,000 Praesensa system components and 10,000 audio zones to be managed centrally. The new solution is therefore ideally equipped for future expansions. The Praesensa multi-subnet system includes a redundancy concept that ensures uninterrupted operation in the event of an equipment failure. “We wanted reliable connectivity with good redundancy and a flexible, future-proof solution for Munich Airport. Another ideal feature was the problem-free integration of our 14,000 existing speakers into the new solution. The overall package won us over,” says Michael Huck, project engineer for safety and security systems at Flughafen München GmbH. User-friendly operation and improved audio quality The DIN EN 54-certified solution is used for passenger announcements, locating people, emergency alerts and general announcements in Terminal 1. The integration into the airport’s existing management system means the terminal service team and the fire department can pass on information to passengers and staff in a quick, targeted way with improved audio quality. Pre-recorded announcements in 18 languages will be possible in the future. In the event of an alarm being activated, the fire department can use an additional display panel on a 40-inch touchscreen monitor to easily control individual sections of the building and take measures such as a phased evacuation. Cost savings and efficiency in ongoing operations Besides undertaking the planning work, the Bosch experts also installed the new solution. The Praesensa systems for the terminal’s 23 tech rooms and its parking garages are installed in over 80 19-inch racks and connected to the existing speakers. Unlike traditional multichannel power amplifiers with a fixed maximum output per channel, the amplifiers in the Praesensa systems offer intelligent, flexible load distribution to all amplifier channels, along with reduced power consumption in standby mode. This often results in less amplifiers being required in many installations and savings of up to 50 percent can be achieved when it comes to space, power, and emergency power supply capacity. The system operation is quick and flexible via a web interface. Flexible adaptation to future requirements The full IP connectivity of all components means the new solution in Terminal 1, which is also maintained by the Bosch team on site, can easily be scaled and adapted to future requirements. “When you make an investment, it’s important for the technology to grow along with it, without previous investments going to waste. That is particularly true of an airport, because it’s in a constant state of flux,” adds Huck.

Mobile Access is fully integrated into the tried-and-tested Access Management System from Bosch and offers numerous benefits in terms of efficiency, security, and convenience for building owners, employees, and visitors.Both efficient and user-friendly A few clicks are all it takes for authorized individuals, such as Facility Management or IT staff, to configure and create access authorizations in their local Access Management System. Visitor and employee data can then be managed with ease using an intuitive, browser-based interface. For example, authorization credentials can be sent remotely and easily as a link or a QR code to an app on the end users’ mobile devices and can then be deleted again as necessary. “Most people always carry their smartphones with them everywhere they go. Storing authorization credentials on mobile devices has several advantages,” explains Gregor Schlechtriem, Senior Vice President at Bosch Building Technologies, adding: “You provide both employees and visitors with a modern, easy-to-use, and sustainable solution that means they don’t have to resort to additional forms of identification like plastic cards. Using the appropriate settings, they don’t even have to take their smartphone out of their pocket. The app can run in the background once started, so the smartphone’s home screen doesn’t have to be unlocked to open doors.” This solution also enhances accessibility, and is a major advantage for wheelchair users, for example, who are often unable to reach card reader machines. A state-of-the-art and secure solution Mobile Access leverages the Bosch Group’s many years of experience with products and systems in the field of security, safety, and communications. The new solution modernizes access control without compromising on high security standards. Mobile Access uses forgery-proof certificates to transmit authorization credentials via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) between the smartphone and the reader and employs the encrypted OSDP protocol between the reader and controller. The solution also supports two-factor authentication that can be configured on the readers. Visitors and employees are then prompted to unlock their smartphone to gain access, for instance by using their Face ID. This makes it especially easy to comply with strict data protection laws, because sensitive personal data does not have to be stored on local systems. That means building operators also benefit from secure and cost-effective two-factor authentication. Additionally, no user registration is needed to use the app, meaning no personal data is stored there for this purpose either. Integrated feature Bosch Mobile Access combines efficiency, security, and convenience with a robust and flexible core. The new feature is fully integrated into the Bosch access management solution. Access management systems from Bosch thus combine reliable and robust hardware components, such as the Bosch Access Modular Controller (AMC2), with digital and browser-based services for managing authorizations for visitors and employees. The user interfaces are intuitive and can also be used to manage mobile authorization credentials and authorizations. The Bosch access management software offers multiple features that streamline manual processes, such as setting up time patterns and automated authorization changes, thereby making access and visitor management efficient and flexible. The solution can be operated on an entirely local basis, meaning there is no need to use a cloud platform to manage personal data. By avoiding a cloud platform, organizations can save on the associated fees they would otherwise have to pay, usually in the form of a monthly subscription. Bosch Mobile Access is compatible with software AMS 5.0.1 or BIS-ACE 5.0.1 and higher, as well as LECTUS select premium readers equipped with BLE. The smartphone app that enables end users to store the mobile authorization credentials on their smartphones is free and runs on both iOS and Android. Mobile Access from Bosch will initially be available to customers in the Benelux region, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as Canada and the USA, with more countries to follow in the course of the year.
