Bosch announces $225 million direct funding agreement with the U.S. Department o ...

Roseville, California – Bosch, a leading provider of technology and services and the largest automotive supplier in the world according to external rankings, announced a definitive agreement with the Trump Administration for up to $225 million in direct funding from the Department of Commerce’s CHIPS Program Office to support the up to $2 billion Bosch is investing to transform its Roseville, California site for the production of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors. The Roseville facility, which has more than 40 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, is undergoing a profound evolution into a facility that produces and tests SiC semiconductors with state-of-the-art processes and equipment. Bosch also announced it has begun sample production in Roseville as the company intends to produce its first commercial production chips on 200-millimeter wafers based on the pioneering SiC Bosch technology in 2026. “The start of sample production and our agreement with the Department of Commerce is a milestone in providing our local customers with what they have requested – localized U.S.-based manufacturing,” said Paul Thomas, president and CEO of Bosch in North America. The production of silicon carbide chips in the United States helps to support supply chain resiliency and capitalizes on the expertise of U.S. manufacturing associates to bring this technology to the U.S. market in a timely manner....Paul Thomas, president and CEO of Bosch in North America. “The Trump Administration is committed to developing a secure supply chain here in the United States that will enable continued innovation and competitive leadership in industries of national and economic security importance,” said Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. As part of its investment into U.S. manufacturing at the Roseville site, Bosch has developed a new cleanroom space and high-tech manufacturing line for production of silicon carbide chips. Bosch has accelerated its time-to-market through investment into a long-standing U.S.-based manufacturing facility with highly-skilled U.S.-based associates who bring specific semiconductor experience. In April 2023, Bosch announced its intention to acquire the assets of the existing wafer fab in Roseville. The acquisition was closed in August 2023 and since that time Bosch began to transform the site while also maintaining employment of the existing associates throughout the transformation process. Bosch invested in the further development of Roseville associates through training and collaboration with the Bosch production network. Bosch has a long-standing commitment to the U.S. and is celebrating its 120th anniversary in the country in 2026. The company plans to invest up to $7.5 billion over the next five years across its operations in the U.S. as it heads towards its 125th anniversary of U.S. operations in 2031. “We are focused on growth and investment in the United States in order to increase the share of our global portfolio that is represented by North America and the U.S. specifically,” Thomas said. “The Roseville investment is a key milestone in our 120 years in the U.S., and we are appreciative of the support of the Administration as we look to accelerate our growth here.” Silicon carbide: essential for future mobility & efficiency Silicon carbide chips are becoming foundational in electric and next-generation mobility systems as they handle high voltages, high temperatures, and fast switching more efficiently. They also enable automotive manufacturers with a technology that supports consumer choice in the market as it helps to enable greater range and more efficient recharging in battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Recently, Bosch announced its third-generation silicon carbide chips that deliver up to 20 percent higher performance and are smaller than the previous generation. In the near future, Bosch plans to manufacture third-generation silicon carbide chips in Roseville. The new generation helps to enable greater cost efficiency and supports making high-performance electronics more widely available worldwide. Bosch has already delivered more than 60 million SiC chips worldwide since the first generation went into production in 2021. In addition to mobility applications, silicon carbide also has potential uses in other business sectors including industrial energy applications for energy consumption effectiveness in data centers, since SiC chips enable higher-efficiency, higher-power conversion with less heat, and smaller components, making them ideal to support rapidly growing AI workloads while reducing energy and cooling demands. “Silicon carbide semiconductors are the enabling technology behind the electrification in multiple critical industries including energy, automotive, and defense. The CHIPS Program incentive supports Bosch’s effort to onshore silicon carbide technology that will bolster supply chain resiliency for our country,” said Bill Frauenhofer, Executive Director for Semiconductor Innovation and Investment at the Department of Commerce. The Roseville site represents the first semiconductor production site in the United States for Bosch and is one of 20 facilities with manufacturing operations in the U.S. for Bosch across the company’s broad portfolio. Bosch employs around 10,000 associates working in manufacturing operations in the United States. The company has invested significant capital in the U.S. over the past five years, the majority of which is focused on manufacturing. The Roseville facility has nearly 40 years of extensive experience in the production of semiconductors for automotive and industrial applications, which it will now apply to the production of silicon carbide chips. In addition, the Roseville site has also been awarded a $25 million California Competes Tax Credit incentive from the Governor’s Office of Business & Economic Development (GO-Biz) to support redevelopment and investment in Roseville. The Bosch site in Roseville, California, currently employs more than 300 associates, with potential to grow in the future based on market development. Along with advancing the skills of its current associates, Bosch is making local investments to strengthen future semiconductor talent in the United States. Beginning in 2026, Bosch plans to invest more than $100,000 per year in the Roseville community through the Bosch Community Fund, the regional foundation for Bosch in North America. Since 2024, the Bosch Community Fund has invested $200,000 in grant awards to schools and nonprofits in support of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education initiatives, impacting nearly 1,500 students and teachers in the Roseville area. NORMAN, OKLA., June 8, 2026 – Bosch Home Comfort Group is redefining light commercial HVAC installation and performance with the launch of SkyQ. The intelligent control system is engineered specifically for small to mid-sized buildings to deliver advanced, system-wide HVAC control without the complexities and costs of traditional building automation systems (BAS). This represents a slight year-on-year increase of approximately four percent. Despite global economic challenges, the North American market once again posted growth and continues to be a focus market for growth at Bosch – particularly in the United States. Bosch has a long-standing commitment to the U.S. and is celebrating its 120th anniversary in the country in 2026. Broad manufacturing footprint across U.S. supporting operations A major part of the commitment to the U.S. is in manufacturing, where Bosch manages 20 sites with manufacturing operations supporting all four of its business sectors: Mobility, Consumer Goods, Energy and Building Technology, and Industrial Technology. U.S. manufacturing for Bosch expanded in 2025 as the company closed a major acquisition. AI, software and powertrain options fuel Mobility business sector The Mobility business sector achieved $11.4 billion USD in sales in North America in 2025 as demonstrated nominal growth ($10.8 billion USD in 2024) despite market headwinds. The company continues to develop software and artificial intelligence-enabled solutions for customers tied to the needs of the local market – particularly in the United States. In December 2025, Bosch Mobility introduced two new features showcasing AI as an enabler. The AI extension platform extends the capabilities of existing cockpit systems, bringing advanced AI functions into the vehicle. The comfort stop feature is built on the Bosch Vehicle Motion Management software stack, a next-generation platform that bridges physical components with intelligent motion control systems. This architecture enables automakers to add features such as smoother braking or more responsive steering through software, including over-the-air updates. The company continues to see growth in solutions to support hybrid vehicles , where the rich history and system-level expertise of Bosch in powertrain is highly applicable. Bosch Mobility integrates and modularizes a variety of components backed by development teams for both internal combustion and electrification. Bosch Power Tools has introduced a series of new products across its 18V cordless, corded and accessories categories, continuing to prioritize the development of products that directly address the evolving needs of tradespeople across construction, mechanical and industrial sectors. Most recently, it introduced 60 new products at the 2026 World of Concrete show, led by the next-generation EXPERT 18V platform that features Bosch’s most advanced 18V battery technology to date and announced a major expansion into outdoor power equipment, and modular storage for the North American market. Major portfolio shifts in Energy and Building Technology The Energy and Building Technology business sector posted $2.5 billion USD in sales in 2025 as it underwent fundamental shifts in its portfolio. In August, Bosch closed the acquisition of the residential and light-commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) business from Johnson Controls. This significantly expanded the presence of Bosch Home Comfort in the North American market, where the brand portfolio now includes YORK®, Hitachi and more alongside the Bosch brand v . In October 2025, the Bosch Home Comfort Group completed another acquisition in the North American market: US Air Conditioning Distributors, LLC, which has 52 locations and almost 500 employees in California, Arizona, Utah and Idaho. The company’s factory-direct sales model provides the Bosch Home Comfort Group with direct customer access. In October 2025, Bosch announced it would unify its global building technologies integrator operations under the unified name Bosch Building Technologies. Beginning in January of 2026, the brands Climatec and Paladin Technologies combined their branch networks under the Bosch brand. Industrial Technology grows despite market challenges The Industrial Technology business sector faced continued market headwinds, posting a nominal gain in sales of $1.4 billion USD , up from $1.3 billion in 2024. The Industrial Technology business in the U.S. includes Bosch Rexroth, which has been part of the Bosch family for 25 years, and Hydraforce, which joined the Bosch family in 2023. Bosch Rexroth is expanding into new markets, including Controlled Environment Agriculture , where its ctrlX Automation platform optimizes growing conditions, enables precision motion control and captures data to enhance operational efficiency for growers. Rexroth also continues the development of its cryopump technology , which helps to enable an economical hydrogen infrastructure by reducing boil-off during hydrogen dispensing. Hydraforce announced a new structure for its global Compact Hydraulics Business Unit headquartered in the United States. Hydraforce also introduced a new proportional pressure control valve in 2025 that helps to maintain stable control at high flow in demanding hydraulic units. Bosch Group: outlook for 2026 and strategic direction In the face of geopolitical tensions and trade barriers, the Bosch Group intends to exploit the growth prospects in its global markets with full innovative strength in the 2026 business year. The necessary upfront investments in areas of future importance are set to remain at the high level of previous years. In 2025 alone, Bosch devoted some 12 billion euros to investments in research and development and to capital expenditure. The supplier of technology and services is planning sales growth of 2 – 5 percent and an EBIT margin from operations of 4 – 6 percent for 2026. “As a global technology leader, we are committed to shaping the trends of automation, digitalization, electrification, and artificial intelligence, as this also paves the way for profitable growth in our business,” said Stefan Hartung , chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH. Despite considerable challenges, Bosch was able to achieve sales revenue of 91.0 billion euros ($102.8 billion USD) in the 2025 business year, slightly up on the previous year (2024: 90.3 billion euros). After adjusting for exchange-rate effects, this was equivalent to 4.1 percent growth. At 2 percent, the EBIT margin from operations was below the previous year’s figure (2024: 3.5 percent). Necessary structural and personnel adjustments to increase future viability had a considerable negative impact on the result in the form of provisions of 2.7 billion euros. “Bosch can deliver the future – even under unfavorable conditions. 2026 will be a year of progress,” said Hartung. Robots need a keen sense of touch so that they can interact safely and precisely with their environment, whether in the factory or in the home. A tiny but indispensable technology gives robots precisely this tactile sense: microelectromechanical systems, known as MEMS sensors. They are the key to enabling robots to handle objects with the necessary finesse and react sensitively to physical contact. For example, it’s these sensors that give a robot the ability to precisely adjust its grip to a robust water glass or a delicate stemmed glass. Bosch is the global market leader in this key technology field of MEMS sensors, which is central to the company’s Reutlingen semiconductor location. “Humans have 4 million touch sensors. Bosch is working to further develop cognitive robots To accelerate development in automation and robotics, Bosch is relying on a combination of targeted in-house innovation and an open ecosystem approach. To this end, the company founded Robert Bosch Robotics GmbH, a specialized unit that focuses on the development and commercialization of new robotics solutions. At the same time, Bosch is continuing to drive forward industrial scaling through strategic partnerships. Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Master even the steepest ascents with ease, ride technical uphills with full control, and overcome challenging trail sections: From May 2026, Bosch eBike Systems is offering ambitious riders the free performance upgrade 2.0 for the Performance Line CX and Performance Line CX-R, which consistently expands the dynamic ecosystem. The eBike Flow app can be used to increase the maximum torque and maximum support – the intelligent riding software recognizes technically challenging situations and automatically delivers full power precisely when it is needed. Together with the now customizable Extended Boost, the Drivetrain Tensioner, the new Trick Check feature, and the 12A Charger, which will be available from the end of 2026, the result is an enhanced overall package for performance riders. “eMTB riding means constantly challenging yourself on the trail – and mastering new situations. This requires not only more power, but also intelligent power delivery at crucial moments. This is exactly what drives us in the further development of our dynamic ecosystem. We want every update to feel noticeably better on the trail – not just on the data sheet,“ says Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems. Performance upgrade 2.0: situation-specific peak power for key technical sections With the performance upgrade 2.0, the smart system from Bosch provides even more torque and support for powerful riding on steep trails, when negotiating high steps, or when cranking through tight curves. Using the eBike Flow app, performance riders can increase the torque of the Performance Line CX and the Performance Line CX-R to up to 120 Nm in any riding mode, with the maximum setting value being defined by the respective bicycle manufacturer. Starting from the basic setting of 85 Nm, there is a wide adjustment range for personalized tuning. In addition, the maximum support can be increased: Up to a speed of 15 kph, up to 600% support is now provided in certain riding situations.1 What this means on the trail: The long section of exposed roots, the challenging exit from the hairpin curves, the sudden steep section after crossing a stream – it is precisely in these key areas that the intelligent riding software delivers full power – tailored to the specific situation and precisely regulated. This requires dynamic rider power on the pedals: For riders who provide more input in the short term, the system delivers the decisive power boost and rewards them with a new sense of achievement. Immediately afterward, the system adjusts back to an efficient level. This intelligent, short-term power peak reduces material wear, particularly on the chain, cassette, and freewheel, and maximizes the range. Riders decide for themselves whether and to what extent they want to use this short-term peak support via the eBike Flow app – for a natural riding experience with full control. The performance upgrade 2.0 will be available from May 4, 2026 as a free over-the-air update. Adjustable Extended Boost: more control and more personalization Extended Boost gives eMTB riders the decisive boost they need to overcome obstacles such as roots, steps, or rocks with ease – even if a full pedal stroke is not possible. The system delivers an intuitive, residual boost of up to 2.2 yards. From mid-2026, a new slider in the Bosch eBike Flow app will make it possible to set the length of the overrun for each riding mode. Some modes, such as eMTB, eMTB+, or Race, already have a predefined boost length by default that matches the characteristic of the respective mode. The system reacts intelligently to the current situation on the trail: shorter and smoother for low drops, longer and more dynamic for high, angular steps. The final amount of overrun is determined by the interplay between app setting, riding mode, and pedal pressure. The result: smooth riding on the trail and full control when negotiating technical sections – making pedal jams a thing of the past. This allows performance riders to customize their setup according to their own preferences – for a precisely tuned riding experience. Drivetrain Tensioner for maximum control For an even more direct response and maximum control in technical riding situations, Bosch eBike Systems is introducing the Drivetrain Tensioner for the Performance Line CX and Performance Line CX-R. A software optimization closes the freewheel between the motor and rear wheel. This reduces the free travel on the pedal to a minimum and eliminates the usual delay when pedaling. The result is almost instantaneous traction with an even quieter freewheel, with the rider's input converted directly into precise propulsion. This direct power transmission enables superior control and noticeably more agile riding behavior, particularly on demanding sections, such as when starting off on a step or accelerating out of tight curves. Especially in combination with the performance upgrade 2.0, the Drivetrain Tensioner can protect the freewheel and thus ensure a longer service life and lower repair costs. Available from mid-2026 in eMTB+ and Race riding modes via an update through the eBike Flow app. Trick Check: a fun way to measure trail skills Flow smoothly through a curve on the rear wheel or take the next jump a little further – with the new Trick Check function, every successful move becomes an achievement. The sensor technology automatically recognizes Jumps, Wheelies, Manuals, or Stoppies, records duration, height, distance, or angle and confirms success with an audible signal. In addition, the last trick is shown on the display for eight seconds – a moment that visualizes the rider's personal achievements and motivates them in a fun way. Once the ride is over, the eBike Flow app shows all personal best performances at a glance. Riders can track progress, compare attempts – and generate additional motivation for the next ride.2 12A Charger: faster charging, more time on the trail True performance on the trail means maximum time on the eBike. That's why the new 12A Charger now significantly shortens charging breaks. With a charging power of around 500 W, it charges around three times faster than the familiar 4A Charger; a PowerTube 800 thus reaches a battery level of around 50 percent in around one hour. This is made possible by modern GaN technology. Since it generates significantly less waste heat than conventional semiconductors, it enables efficient and intelligent thermal management. Despite its high performance, the charger is compact, weighs just over 2 lbs, and therefore fits in a backpack or small bike bag. For performance riders, this means spontaneous recharging, a range buffer before their after-work ride, and more time on the trail instead of at the power outlet. The 12A Charger is compatible with all Bosch smart system batteries and will be available from the end of 2026. The cloud-based service uses continuously updated data from numerous sources to quickly warn drivers of potential hazards on their route, such as sudden fog or black ice, and is already being used in millions of different cars and commercial vehicles around the world. Also, initial vehicles from the BMW Group are using the Bosch service. Bosch plans to roll out the service gradually in additional BMW vehicles over the next few years. “The road hazard service from Bosch increases road safety while also increasing the ease of driving. Our cloud-based service is a tangible win for our customers because it predicts and informs drivers, whether they are in a car or a truck, of hazards on the route and helps them avoid critical situations,” says Dr. Markus Heyn, member of the board of management at Bosch and chairman of the Mobility business sector. Bosch service already proving itself in millions of vehicles The road hazard service from Bosch was released in June 2024 and went live with a European vehicle manufacturer. Six months later, a large commercial vehicle manufacturer also integrated the service, which Bosch has been gradually rolling out since then. The cloud-based software solution is now available in millions of vehicles in Europe and the U.S. The service has also been part of the BMW Group’s vehicle fleets since March 2026. Some of the models using the road hazard service include the BMW iX1, iX2, iX3, and X3, as well as several Mini models. One unique selling point of the Bosch technology is that vehicle manufacturers can set the sensitivity of the system – meaning the point at which the system triggers a warning – to their exact specifications and in line with their own market philosophy. This includes notices about accidents and abandoned vehicles, for instance in construction zones. The service can also warn drivers of heavy rain that could lead to hydroplaning, heavy snow, and strong wind. In addition, Bosch is the only provider to offer a cloud-based wrong-way driver warning, which is, among others, used by a European high-volume manufacturer. Vehicle manufacturers can choose whether to purchase the wrong-way driver warning as part of the road hazard service package or as an individual feature. This technology provides drivers with an early warning and gives them crucial seconds to respond, often long before the wrong-way driver is even visible. The wrong-way driver warning is shown either directly on the display in the cockpit or on a smartphone, if the driver does not yet own a vehicle with an integrated wrong-way driver warning. The feature can be used in a variety of smartphone apps from Bosch partners. Simply download one of the partner apps and activate the feature to use this Bosch service. In total, these apps have already been downloaded more than 100 million times. Highly reliable thanks to smart data mix The high degree of reliability of the road hazard service is based on a smart fusion concept. Bosch combines anonymized real-time data from a worldwide fleet of millions of connected vehicles with information from third-party providers such as weather services and road operators. These sources together provide a highly precise, current overview of the road conditions, which forms the basis for reliable warnings. Driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control (ACC) and emergency braking assist can also use the predictive warnings to respond even more safely and precisely. If the system determines, for example, that many vehicles in one region are using the windshield wipers on the highest setting and weather data is reporting heavy rain, the system concludes that there is a risk of hydroplaning. Affected drivers then receive an early warning and can adjust their speed in time. The quality of the predictions is continuously validated by Bosch’s own test fleet, which is equipped with special sensors. In addition, external sources such as webcams along the roads verify the emitted warnings. A new Bosch offering for even greater safety and ease on every drive: the connected speed limit system always knows the current speed limit and shows it to the driver directly in the vehicle. Thanks to smart connectivity, the service even recognizes dynamic limits, such as those in construction zones, on wet roads, or depending on the time of day.

The North American region comprises the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The press and creator event was hosted at BSH's Experience and Design Center (EDC) in Midtown Manhattan – one of 10 showrooms across the United States and Canada showcasing the company's three premium and luxury home appliance brands offered in North America: Bosch, Thermador and Gaggenau. 2025 Financial Performance: Resilience in a Challenging Market From a global perspective, BSH Hausgeräte GmbH - headquartered in Munich, Germany - delivered €15 billion in turnover in fiscal year 2025. While this represented a modest 1.6% decline in Euro terms, the company grew in local currency across most regions, demonstrating resilience in a demanding macroeconomic environment. In North America, BSH achieved turnover growth of more than 5% in U.S. dollar terms (0.4% in Euro), growing significantly above the market and expanding its market share. “2025 tested the industry on a wide range of fronts, but we can confidently say that our business held strong,” said Clarkson. “Despite clear challenges, our organization did not stand still.
