The Expert 18V high-performance batteries set new standards – with up to 2,400 watts of maximum power1 and up to 280 percent2 longer runtime compared to the GBA 18V 4.0 Ah Professional battery. The range for trade professionals is part of Bosch’s top performance class Expert. It comprises four rechargeable batteries with capacities of 4.0, 5.5, 8.0 and 15.0 ampere hours as well as two high-speed chargers. The Expert 18V batteries and chargers are compatible with the Professional 18V System and the multi-brand AmpShare battery alliance.

Power on a new level

The Expert 18V batteries take power to the next level. The EXBA18V-40 and EXBA18V-55 achieve maximum powers of up to 2,000 watts.1 Compared to current batteries in the Bosch range, such as the GBA 18V 4.0 Ah Professional, the temporary maximum power has been doubled. The EXBA18V-80 and EXBA18V-150 even deliver up to 2,400 watts of temporary maximum power1. This makes all batteries in the Expert range ideal for particularly demanding applications.

Long, uninterrupted work thanks to an even longer runtime

The new Expert 18V rechargeable batteries also set new standards in terms of runtime. Compared to the GBA 18V 4.0 Ah Professional, the EXBA18V-80 extends the runtime by up to 120 percent.2 The rechargeable battery in the new range with the largest capacity is the EXBA18V-150 with 15.0 Ah. The high-performance battery offers a runtime that exceeds that of the GBA 18V 4.0 Ah Professional by up to 280 percent.2

Innovative tabless technology for maximum efficiency

Bosch has become the world’s first manufacturer to bring the benefits of tabless technology in battery cells to 18V batteries for cordless power tools. Both, EXBA18V-40 and EXBA18V-80 also feature tabless cells. In conventional lithium-ion batteries, cells have small connection bands on both sides – so called “tabs”. They create a bottleneck for the power delivered by the battery and contribute to the cell’s electrical inner resistance, causing heat to be generated. To ensure that the battery doesn’t overheat, particularly during high-performance applications, the tool shuts itself off, leaving the remaining energy in the battery unused. Using tabless cells, this bottleneck has been eliminated and the current flows via countless parallel paths. The result: Less resistance, less heat, and longer runtime for high-performance applications.

More robust than ever before

The newly designed housing has been specially developed for challenging use on construction sites. Metal inserts and a reinforced contact system make the new Expert 18V rechargeable batteries extremely robust. The CoolPack 2.0 technology also enables rapid heat dissipation. This combination allows users to benefit from a particularly long battery lifetime. At the same time, the new release button and use of Soft-Grip ensure ergonomic handling. There are five LEDs on the back of the battery that indicate either the state of charge or, with the new Defect Risk Detection, possible risks.

Ultra-fast charging – even under extreme conditions

The new Expert chargers also contribute to greater efficiency on construction sites. They are also compatible with the Professional 18V System rechargeable batteries from Bosch and the AmpShare Alliance. The compact EXAL18V-160 single charger fully charges an EXBA18V-80 rechargeable battery within 39 minutes in Power Boost mode with up to 16 amperes of charging current, making it three times faster than the GAL 18V-40 Professional3 charger. The EXAL18V2-320 dual charger fully charges two of these rechargeable batteries at the same time. For more gentle charging, professionals can select two additional modes via a button on the charger: The Long Life mode ensures maximum battery life, while Standard mode balances charging power and battery life. Active Air Cooling cools the rechargeable batteries and Flex-Temp Charging extends the battery charging temperature range of the Expert rechargeable batteries from -10°C to +55°C. Both functions therefore minimize the downtime of the batteries by enabling a quick charging start, whether after demanding applications or in cold temperatures.

The EXAL18V2-320 dual charger is the first charger from Bosch that has been fully optimized for use, transport, and storage in a specially developed L-Boxx. The mobile charging station has space for the charger and a total of four rechargeable batteries.

The Expert 18V batteries and chargers will be available individually and in practical sets from September 2025. All prices are recommended retail prices and do not include VAT.

Press kit: Bosch Power Tools Experience Day 2025

The Robert Bosch Power Tools GmbH, a division of the Bosch Group, is one of the world’s leading providers for power tools, garden tools, power tool accessories and measuring tools. In 2024, its 18,700 associates generated sales* of 5.1 billion euros, about 90 percent of which outside of Germany. With brands such as Bosch and Dremel, the division stands for customer focus and great engineering progress. The core success factors are innovative strength and pace of innovation. In 2025, Bosch Power Tools will again launch more than 100 new products onto the market in its four business segments power tools, outdoor and garden tools, accessories and measuring tools.

Due to a change in the allocation of sales within the Bosch Group, certain revenues from Bosch Power Tools will be accounted for differently in the future. As a result, sales in this division appear to have fallen significantly compared to the previous year, although there was no actual change in economic performance in this regard.

The Bosch Group is a leading global supplier of technology and services. It employs roughly 418,000 associates worldwide (as of December 31, 2024). The company generated sales of 90.3 billion euros in 2024. Its operations are divided into four business sectors: Mobility, Industrial Technology, Consumer Goods, and Energy and Building Technology. With its business activities, the company aims to use technology to help shape universal trends such as automation, electrification, digitalization, connectivity, and an orientation to sustainability. In this context, Bosch’s broad diversification across regions and industries strengthens its innovativeness and robustness. Bosch uses its proven expertise in sensor technology, software, and services to offer customers cross-domain solutions from a single source. It also applies its expertise in connectivity and artificial intelligence in order to develop and manufacture user-friendly, sustainable products. With technology that is “Invented for life,” Bosch wants to help improve quality of life and conserve natural resources. The Bosch Group comprises Robert Bosch GmbH and its roughly 490 subsidiary and regional companies in over 60 countries. Including sales and service partners, Bosch’s global manufacturing, engineering, and sales network covers nearly every country in the world. Bosch’s innovative strength is key to the company’s further development. At 136 locations across the globe, Bosch employs some 87,000 associates in research and development.
