Bosch is expanding its top performance class, Expert, in measuring technology with the EXPERT D-tect18V-200-17C. This innovative wall scanner uses AI technology to detect hidden objects in walls. It belongs to Bosch's new top performance class Expert which includes power tools, measuring technology, and accessories for all applications. Expert delivers the best solution for each respective application, providing professionals with tools for the highest demands. The EXPERT D-tect18V-200-17C is also part of Bosch's Professional 18V System, which covers all major 18V applications and, thanks to the multi-brand battery system, the AmpShare alliance, even extends beyond Bosch's own offering. Many brands, many tools, one battery system: This saves tradespeople time, space, and money.

Highest Precision Thanks to Radar Technology and AI Object Recognition

The EXPERT D-tect18V-200-17C supports professional users in precisely locating objects in many different wall types. For the first time, innovative Bosch radar technology is used in combination with AI object recognition – making measurements more reliable, more precise, and easier to perform. To scan, the scanner is rolled over the respective area of the wall using its smooth-running wheels. Data is collected and processed across the entire scan area. The new AI object recognition makes it possible to locate and identify various objects – including plastic or metal pipes, the latter up to a depth of 200 millimetres – within the wall.

IPS Display with Scratch-Resistant Protective Glass

Subsequently, the IPS display shows all found objects and their depth in the wall. Color coding clearly indicates the type of material. Thanks to its new 3D imaging function, available for the first time in this price segment, the device provides a comprehensive and easily interpretable overview of the wall. This scans two-dimensional wall areas using a poster and provides three-dimensional information about the contained objects. This creates, for example, a clear image of rebar mats or complex object combinations. The innovative IPS display not only offers wide viewing angles, excellent color reproduction, high contrast, and uniform brightness distribution, but also ensures clear and consistent visibility thanks to its scratch-resistant display protective glass. The device allows for easy documentation of all data through its screenshot function and internal memory, with data transfer via USB-C and SD card.

With the EXPERT D-tect18V-200-17C, Bosch has developed a wall scanner for its Professional 18V System for the first time. As the first tool of its kind, the scanner also allows the user to perform regular software updates independently, ensuring continuous access to the latest features and improvements. During development, Bosch placed great emphasis on ergonomics; both the device's low weight and its grip allow for comfortable and easy use. Due to its low power consumption, Bosch recommends the GBA 18V 2.0Ah Professional as the battery to be used.

The wall scanner comes in a practical L-Boxx. The scope of delivery includes a GAL 18V-20 charger, a GBA 18V 2.0Ah battery, a USB C cable, and a hand strap. Also included is a poster made of robust, water-resistant synthetic paper measuring 60 centimetres by 40 centimetres. For larger areas, a poster measuring 120 centimetres by 80 centimetres is also available. Both can be purchased separately if needed.

The wall scanner be available from January 2026. Subject to change. All prices are recommended retail prices and do not include VAT.
