Abstatt, Nuremberg – From initial design concept to track-ready high-performance component in just a few weeks: Bosch Motorsport is helping racing teams, motorsport OEMs, and performance vehicle manufacturers get innovative components onto the track significantly faster. Partnering with the Bosch Additive Solution Center (ASC) in Nuremberg, Bosch Motorsport combines decades of racing engineering expertise with cutting-edge additive manufacturing to deliver highly durable metal components.

Minimizing Development Time, Maximizing Performance

By utilizing state-of-the-art metal 3D printing technologies, Bosch Motorsport and the Nuremberg ASC drastically shorten development cycles. New component designs can be flexibly realized and tested. Because different design variations can be manufactured in parallel, their suitability can be compared quickly on the test bench or under real track conditions. These optimized iteration loops accelerate the transfer of innovative concepts directly into the vehicle, providing immediate benefits to developers and race teams.

Design Freedom and Targeted Lightweighting

The technological value lies in design freedom: while conventional manufacturing is limited by tooling, machining access, or manufacturing constraints, additive manufacturing enables complex geometries that were previously virtually impossible to produce. Using lattice and topology structures, material is strategically placed only where it is required to handle physical loads. This reduces component weight by more than 20 percent. At the same time, multiple individual parts can be consolidated into a single component, minimizing packaging space, assembly effort, and potential failure points in demanding racing conditions.

High-End Materials for Enduring Performance

The material portfolio of the Nuremberg ASC proves that additively manufactured components have moved far beyond the prototyping niche. The facility processes a wide range of demanding, high-performance materials – from high-strength aluminum alloys and stainless steels to nickel-based superalloys like Inconel and other specialty alloys. The components withstand extreme mechanical loads, vibrations, and thermal spikes – conditions that define the standard in professional motorsport. Another advantage is toolless, print-on-demand manufacturing: replacement and development parts are produced exactly when needed. This saves storage costs and provides additional flexibility for race teams and vehicle developers.

From Design to Finish: A Single-Source Solution

The exceptional quality of these parts is rooted in the close collaboration between Bosch Motorsport and the Nuremberg ASC. The partnership covers the entire process chain – from “Design for Additive Manufacturing” and printing on large-scale industrial machines like the Nikon SLM NXG XII 600, to CNC post-processing and quality assurance. This provides customers with direct access to state-of-the-art 3D printing technology, combined with Bosch Motorsport's decades of racing expertise and the rigorous quality and industrialization standards of the automotive industry.

Experience the Future of Lightweighting Live at PMW

At the PMW Expo in Cologne, the partners will demonstrate how additive manufacturing unlocks new possibilities for engineering, lightweight design, and track performance.

When: November 11 and 12, 2026
Where: Koelnmesse, Hall 10.1, Booth 2028
