Bosch introduces to the market the Biturbo GSR and GSB 18V-150 C Professional 18V drill drivers as the world’s most powerful cordless drill driver and combi drill. Their brushless high-performance motor is perfectly coordinated with the electronics and battery, so that the high efficiency of the recommended ProCore18V batteries with 8.0 Ah can be used to their full potential. The Biturbo drill drivers therefore differ significantly from all previous models: With a maximum torque of 150 Nm and up to 2,200 revolutions a minute, both tools guarantee rapid work progress. In soft screwdriving applications their torque is 84 Nm, which is 15 percent higher than the best competitor model. With one charge of the supplied ProCore18V battery with 8.0 Ah, they can screw in up to 12 screws measuring 12 x 400 mm in soft wood. No other cordless drill driver can match this at present. The tools are therefore ideally suited for traditional wood frame construction and for roof and facade construction. In short: For all applications where large screwing and drilling diameters are required. In addition, the Biturbo drill drivers offer craftsmen value-added through the new user interface ‒ an interactive display on the tool ‒ as well as individual setting options through connectivity functions via smartphone. The focal point here is a world’s first: “Electronic Angle Detection (EAD)”, the first electronic angle detection system in an 18V drill driver on the market.

Screwdriving at the right angle ‒ this is how it works

Electronic angle detection will make it easier for carpenters to comply with valid standards in future. To assure the statics of a roof structure, screw connections of counter battens and insulation must be made at specific angles. “Electronic Angle Detection (EAD)” from Bosch is used in this respect: The common angles of 45 and 60 degrees can be selected directly on the tool via the user interface. Any other angle can be set individually via app on a smartphone and is transmitted via Bluetooth to the drill driver. To activate the electronic angle detection function, the tool is placed – after selecting the angle – on the roof pitch until the corresponding display field in the user interface is continuously illuminated. This means that the drill driver is referenced to this angle and is ready to be used. If the tool is then placed on the roof pitch for screwdriving, the LED integrated in the back of the tool lights up green as soon as the set angle is attained. If you exceed or fall below this angle by more than ±3 degrees, the LED lights up yellow and you can adjust accordingly. The result: Precise screw connections without the need for previously common screwdriving aids made of cardboard or plastic.

High user protection thanks to KickBack Control

The GSR and GSB 18V-150 C Professional tools are also characterized by high user protection thanks to KickBack Control: If the drill driver turns suddenly or unpredictably on its drill axis, as can occur if the drill becomes jammed in a knothole, for instance, – the integrated sensor shuts off the motor in a fraction of a second. This prevents unexpected kickback and can therefore reduce the risk of injury. If KickBack Control is not expedient for certain applications, for example when drilling with a hole saw, professionals can switch the function on and off at their own discretion. The included auxiliary handle also ensures that craftsmen always have their tool under control. It can be mounted using a quick-release system and locked into 36 positions. This offers professionals maximum flexibility.

Biturbo tools ‒ the most powerful cordless tools from Bosch

The drill drivers join a whole range of powerful Biturbo tools from Bosch. Other flagship products for woodworking are available, for example hand-held circular saws, plunge saws, miter saws, various rotary hammers SDS max and SDS plus, as well as angle grinders. Full power is offered by the Biturbo tools with ProCore18V batteries from 5,5 Ah or more. The Bosch Professional 18 Volt System guarantees compatibility with new and existing power tools and chargers in this voltage class.

The new Biturbo GSR and GSB 18V-150 C Professional drill drivers will be available from June onwards. These are the recommended retail prices excluding VAT.
