press release

The new Bosch M Li-ion battery for motorcycles, scooters, quads and jet skis is a real powerhouse. Thanks to its innovative lithium-ion technology, it features just one third of the weight of comparable lead-acid batteries. Due to the usually pretty high installation position of batteries in motorized two-wheelers, the particularly lightweight M Li-ion battery can even reduce the bikes’ center of gravity thus optimizing its driveability and handling. In addition, the new battery features a deep-cycle resistance which is up to ten times higher than in case of conventional batteries. It is particularly vibration-resistant and can be installed in any position. Thanks to its low self-discharge rate, the lithium-ion battery maintains its charge up to four times longer thus allowing it to overcome extended winter breaks without any problems.

On time for the sales launch, the Bosch M Li-ion battery is available for all common motorized two-wheelers, quads and jet skis on the market. Using the innovative lithium-ion technology, Bosch will continue to expand its range of starter batteries in future. “Lithium-ion technology is an important and driving technology for electromobility in general,” said Dr. Uwe Thomas, chairman of the Automotive Aftermarket business division. “With it, Bosch wants to assume a leading role also in the trade sector in the area of starter batteries.”

Comprehensive Bosch battery range meeting all requirements
With its broad range of batteries for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, leisure and off-highway applications, Bosch is represented on all markets worldwide. Specifically for the application in passenger cars equipped with start/stop systems, the Bosch range includes the particularly high-performance EFB and and AGM battery series. The EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery) technology has a much higher deep-cycle resistance compare to conventional starter batteries. For commercial vehicles, the Bosch range includes the TE series, which is also equipped with EFB technology. Starter batteries with AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology are the top-power products within the Bosch battery range. Their charge/discharge-cycle stability is up to four times higher. With their dynamic recharging and particularly high short-distance stability, AGM batteries even meet the requirements of passenger cars equipped with start/stop systems, regenerative braking and numerous electrical comfort functions.
