press release

The GKS 55+ G Professional and GKS 55+ GCE Professional hand-held circular saws from Bosch provide 15 percent more cutting depth with the same saw blade size. This is made possible by their new gearbox geometry with two-stage reduction: the centrally mounted gearbox spindle is considerably smaller than that of a conventional system. The second spindle is at an upward offset to the side and is not situated within the cutting axis. As a result, the saw blade can now penetrate deeper into the material despite being the same size. This means that these tools offer carpenters, roofers, joiners and drywallers an even wider range of applications, while also being lightweight and handy.

High precision due to compatibility with the Bosch guide rails
These new hand-held circular saws offer professional tradespeople high precision. The “G” in the product name stands for “Guide rail” and means that both tools are optimized for the Bosch FSN Professional guide rail system. The robust base plate made of die-cast aluminum is equipped with two precisely milled grooves which also make the tools compatible with rail systems from other suppliers. The rotation point of the GKS 55+ G Professional and GKS 55+ GCE Professional is designed so that the saw blade position is identical for cuts at 45 degrees and at 90 degrees. These cuts are now therefore possible on the same guide rail.

Both hand-held circular saws offer a cutting depth of 63 millimeters and weigh only 3.8 kilograms. Their powerful motors ensure a fast work rate. The GKS 55+ G Professional has 1200 watts of power, the GKS 55+ GCE Professional 1350 watts. It is also equipped with Constant Electronic and six-stage speed pre-selection. It therefore maintains a continuous speed even when making deep cuts in hard materials and is suitable for cutting different materials – from wood, to soft metals such as aluminum and brass, through to heat-sensitive plastics. Both hand-held circular saws have an integrated brake function which stops the saw blade within seconds when the tool is switched off, thus protecting the user and the material.

Hand-held circular saw, guide rail and accessories from a single source
Bosch offers a complete system consisting of tool, guide rail and accessories, which are all precisely harmonized with each other:

  • The FSN Professional guide rail system comprises rails of 800 to 3,100 millimeters in length, matching accessories and consumables. The system includes the FSN VEL Professional connecting piece which enables multiple guide rails to be connected to each other precisely, sturdily and quickly, the FSN WAN Professional angle guide and the FSN KZW Professional clamps.
  • The Bosch “Expert for Wood” circular saw blades provide high cutting performance and a long lifetime thanks to their carbide technology. A special coating protects them against corrosion and reduces friction. Laser-cut anti-vibration slots ensure smooth running, considerably less noise and noticeably lower vibration compared to conventional circular saw blades.
The GKS 55+ G Professional and GKS 55+ GCE Professional hand-held circular saws will be available at specialist retail outlets from September 2015 onwards. Guide rails and circular saw blades are available in the Bosch accessory range.
