press release

Bosch is now offering professionals two new cordless jigsaws for cordless work and more flexibility in the workshop and on the jobsite: the GST 18 V-LI S Professional is the first cordless 18 volt jigsaw from Bosch with a barrel grip, and the GST 18 V-LI B Professional is an optimized bow handle jigsaw.

The GST 18 V-LI S Professional with barrel grip
The GST 18 V-LI S barrel grip version has been optimized for sawing from underneath and is suitable, for example, for making cutouts in worktops with minimal tearing. It ensures comfortable handling during work because at a length of only 282 millimeters and a weight of 2.4 kilograms the GST 18 V-LI S Professional is the most compact cordless jigsaw in the 18 volt class. A handle recess on the barrel grip enables the user to work especially close to the workpiece. This cordless tool sits better in the hand and can be guided more precisely, which is also facilitated by the slim grip circumference. This enables tradespeople such as cabinet makers, carpenters, kitchen builders and exhibition stand builders to very comfortably make clean, precise cuts, for example when performing adjustment work. An LED light which can be switched on and off ensures a good view of the cutting line during work. The saw blade stops instantly when the tool is switched off thanks to the auto-stop function. This reliably protects the workpiece from being damaged by unwanted run-on.

Improved bow handle jigsaw: GST 18 V-LI B Professional
Bosch is replacing the previous saws in the 14.4 and 18 volt class with the GST 18 V-LI B Professional bow handle version. As with the barrel grip version, it is exceptionally compact and at 2.4 kilograms very light. Thanks to its optimized gear ratio, this saw achieves an up to 30 percent faster cutting speed than the previous model. The capacity of the cutting depth has also been optimized compared to the predecessors: at 120 millimeters it is also 30 percent higher.

Both saws use a 4.0 Ah battery from the 18 volt cordless system to provide a fast sawing rate combined with long runtime – independently of the power mains. Cuts are made effortlessly even in thicker or harder materials such as solid wood or metal. Thanks to their CoolPack technology, the batteries can fully exploit their capacity without overheating, even in intensive applications. Moreover, the Electronic Motor Protection (EMP) and Electronic Cell Protection (ECP) protect the machine and battery against overload to give them a longer lifetime. The battery charge level indicator can be used at any time to find out how much energy is left.

Easy, convenient handling from the cut to the saw blade change
To enable the saws to be adapted perfectly to the workpiece material, they are equipped with a four-stage pendulum action and easy-to-adjust stroke rate control. Curved or free-hand cuts and clean plunge cuts are therefore easy to perform in various materials such as wood, plasterboard or metal. Steady tool control is ensured by the die-cast aluminum base plate which is reinforced with a steel insert. The plate has a plastic shoe to protect delicate surfaces from becoming damaged. A mass balance system also reduces the amount of vibration generated and ensures very smooth running. The saw blade is changed with only one hand and without the need for additional tools thanks to the SDS system. All conventional jigsaw blades with a T-shank can be used.

The GST 18 V-LI S Professional and GST 18 V-LI B Professional cordless jigsaws are available from Oktober 2014 onwards at specialist retail outlets in the following versions:
  • in a carton with L-Boxx inlay for 249 euros,
  • as “Clic & Go” version solo in the L-Boxx for 199.99 euros,
  • in the L-Boxx including charger and two 4.0 Ah batteries for 429 euros.
All prices are recommended retail prices excluding VAT.

Comprehensive accessories, such as the “Precision for Wood” jigsaw blades for especially clean cuts in wood, are available in the Bosch range of accessories.
