press release

Berlin – The Communication Center, a business unit of Bosch Security Systems, presents a truck parking solution that includes advance booking and video surveillance. With this solution, Bosch opens up more opportunities for the logistics sector to plan rest periods for drivers and to safeguard the goods that are being conveyed. During the first stage of expansion, 100 parking spaces at 13 truck stops across Germany are available for online bookings. A further 24 secure parking spaces are planned for early 2014. These premium parking spaces are also equipped with video surveillance and connected to the Bosch monitoring center.

Enhanced security and scope for planning
With its concept for secure truck parking, Bosch is addressing a hot topic in the field of logistics. Due to the sharp rise in freight transport over the past ten years, the number of parking spaces available to trucks on German motorways continues to steadily decline. This is a challenge for both trucking companies and drivers, who have to plan statutory rest breaks. At the same time, increasingly high-quality goods are transported by truck, making the issue of security facilities at parking spaces even more significant.
This is precisely why the Bosch Secure Truck Parking concept was created as it combines both issues in one networked security concept. The solution from Bosch covers all the key components: equipping truck stops with video surveillance systems as well as an information and booking platform for advance reservations to improve planning of the route.
By integrating the Bosch Communication Center monitoring centers, this will combine service, monitoring, and intervention, all under one roof.
The driver of a truck can book a truck stop on his route either before setting off or while on the move. This means that the driver does not have to prolong the journey while he searches for somewhere to stop or is forced to park the vehicle in an unsecured parking space. Once the driver arrives at a parking space which is classified as a ‘secure truck stop’ the vehicle is also monitored by video technology throughout their stay. This is particularly beneficial when the driver is transporting valuable cargo such as computer chips, medicines, or tobacco products.

Integrated security concept
“With Bosch Secure Truck Parking, we are expanding our range of mobile security services for the logistics industry. The current solution combines all the expertise from our partners, such as ADAC and us,” explains Matthias Trautner, Head of Operation Management at the Bosch Communication Center. “We will gradually expand the concept to include other ‘secure truck stops’ following the introduction phase in 2013.”

In order to ensure the mobile security of goods as well as individuals in other sectors, Bosch also offers innovative solutions that combine the technical expertise and efficiency of an experienced monitoring center operator. For example, permanent monitoring of containers or entire truck fleets, as well as the automatic emergency eCall service for cars and motorcycles.
