press release

The PKS 16 Multi mini hand-held circular saw from Bosch stands for precise sawing and cutting of different materials from wood, to plastic, acrylic glass and plasterboard, through to tiles and metal. This multi-talented tool works as precisely as a normal circular saw, but it is much smaller, lighter and more compact. This makes it especially easy to operate and control – even with one hand. This is also thanks to the bow-shaped handle, which ensures that the mini hand-held circular saw always sits securely and comfortably in the hand.

Versatile universal tool with plunge-cutting saw blade
The PKS 16 Multi is supplied with two specially developed saw blades for wood and multi-material and a diamond cutting disc for working in hard materials such as tiles. Their blade diameter is 65 millimeters, and the maximum cutting depth in wood is 16 millimeters. The tool is therefore suitable for applications such as cutting workpieces to length or adjusting laminate or tiles. In addition to this, the plunge function also enables recesses to be made, for example for sockets or cable ducts: simply place the saw on the workpiece, lower the saw blade and then you can cut out the required area or also saw grooves. The cutting depth can be adjusted from 1 to 16 millimeters with millimeter accuracy.

“Cut Control” ensures easy cutting line guidance and high precision when sawing and cutting: it is a transparent, forward foldout extension with a cutting line mark. Moreover, a clearly visible base plate mark at the side shows where the saw blade will plunge into the material at the maximum cutting depth. These marks enable do-it-yourselfers to apply the saw correctly to the workpiece, track the cutting line precisely and work competently with the tool. Thanks to the narrow metal base plate with the saw blade positioned at the side, it is also possible to saw close to the edge – for example to produce a clean border joint when laying laminate. Softgrip, an ergonomic design and low weight of 1.9 kilograms also make it easy to work with the mini hand-held circular saw. A transparent cover hood protects the saw blade and ensures a dust-free and chip-free workpiece when using a dust extraction system which can be connected to the tool by means of an adapter.

Quick and easy accessory changes
The three supplied accessories – a saw blade for wood, a saw blade for multi-material and a diamond cutting disc – are very robust and have a long lifetime. If you want to change from one blade to another, you can do so quickly and easily thanks to the spindle lock: simply unlock the base plate, press the spindle lock, loosen the hex screw, change the blade, retighten the hex screw, press the base plate to close it – and then you can carry on working.

The PKS 16 Multi hand-held circular saw will be available at retail outlets from November 2013 onwards. It comes complete with a saw blade for wood, a saw blade for multi-material and a diamond cutting disc. The recommended retail price is 129.99 euros including VAT. Accessories such as saw blades are available in the Bosch range of accessories.
