press release

A powerful cordless hand-held circular saw with lithium-ion technology will be available to do-it-yourselfers in future: the PKS 18 LI from Bosch. Bosch is therefore expanding its range of hand-held circular saws to include a cordless tool for flexible indoor and outdoor use for the first time. The PKS 18 LI is powered by a high-performance 18 volt interchangeable battery with a capacity of 2.0 Ah. This makes the cordless hand-held circular saw suitable for medium sawing applications such as cutting skirting boards, laminate and square timber to length, through to cutting panel materials to size for loft conversions or interior fitting work. The maximum cutting capacity is 48 millimeters, and for miter cuts up to 45 degrees it is 36 millimeters. Cutting depth and miter angle can be set conveniently in only a few moves.

Compact, easy-to-operate tool with “Cut Control”
The PKS 18 LI is easy to handle with its compact design and low weight of only 2.6 kilograms. The bow-shaped handle and the front second handle – both with softgrip covering – enable especially precise and safe control of the hand-held circular saw. As a result, do-it-yourselfers always have complete control over the tool and can concentrate fully on sawing and precisely tracking the cutting line. This is made easier for them by “Cut Control”, which is a transparent, forward foldout extension with a cutting line mark, and a base plate mark for 90 and 45 degree angles. Both show where the saw blade will saw into the material. This enables do-it-yourselfers to position the saw correctly and track the cutting line precisely.

Special saw blade for cordless operation
The “Fast Cut” saw blade that comes complete with the tool is specially designed for cordless circular saws and has a 150 millimeter diameter and 18 teeth. It is quickly changed thanks to the spindle lock. The hex wrench required for this is always within reach directly on the tool. A safety switch with lock-off function that can be operated on both sides prevents the saw from being switched on unintentionally. There is a fixed connection on the tool for dust extraction. Hoses with 35 millimeter diameter can be attached to it.

Great flexibility due to interchangeable battery
Bosch is expanding its existing “Power4All” 18 volt cordless system with the PKS 18 LI hand-held circular saw. This means flexibility for the user: the 18 volt lithium-ion battery can be used in more than ten different garden and DIY tools from Bosch within this voltage class, including drill/driver, jigsaw, hedgecutter and grass trimmer.

The PKS 18 LI hand-held circular saw will be available at retail outlets from October 2013 onwards in the following versions:
  • in a carton including saw blade, parallel guide, 18 volt battery with 2.0 Ah and charger at the recommended retail price of 179.99 euros,
  • in a carton including saw blade and parallel guide without battery and charger for 99.99 euros.

All prices are including VAT. Accessories such as circular saw blades are available in the Bosch range of accessories.
