press release

With the GLM 100 C Professional, Bosch will in future offer a laser rangefinder with an interface for quick, easy data transfer. The “C” stands for “Connectivity”, which says it all: the instrument has an integrated Bluetooth interface. Using this interface, stored measured values can be quickly and easily transferred to smartphones and tablet PCs with Bluetooth Classic (Android from version 2.3) and Bluetooth Low Energy (iPhones from version 4S, iPads from version 3). The second option is data transfer via micro USB cable to a PC. In this case, the stored measured value list of the last 50+1 measurements can be exported in the form of a table and then read out and processed on a computer. The values have a date and time specification, making them quick and easy to allocate.

Easy jobsite dimensioning due to link-up between device and app.
It will be especially easy and versatile in future to use the measured values on smartphones and tablet PCs in conjunction with the Bosch measurement camera app. Until now it has enabled users to take photos, enter dimensions manually into the photo with arrows and angles, add memos, save the data and send it by e-mail. Synchronization of the GLM 100 C Professional and the app significantly extends the functions of the measurement camera: a measured value is, for example, transferred directly into the desired photo dimension. This saves time and rules out errors resulting from manual transfer. All functions of the GLM 100 C Professional can also be remote controlled from the smartphone or tablet.

The measured value list of the GLM 100 C Professional is automatically transferred into the app as soon as the Bluetooth connection is established. All measured values specify the date and time and the type of measurement - such as volume, area, horizontal or vertical distance - and can be individually named. This enables the measured values to be quickly and easily allocated at any time. Another advantage is the possibility to pull individual values together in one line with a tap of the finger. The app then automatically calculates the resulting distance, area or volume, taking into account whether it is a distance or area value. Moreover, professional trades people can file all the data from their different building projects in purpose-created folders, and if required send pictures in jpg format and PDFs directly from the app. This enables people to also work together over great distances: the workmate, boss or contractor is no longer forced to go to the jobsite to assess something. Instead he can conveniently decide what to do by looking at the digital sketch. Precious time is saved and the desired result can be achieved more quickly.

The GLM 100 C Professional will be available at specialist retail outlets from September 2013 onwards at the recommended retail price of 279 euros plus VAT. It comes complete with a micro USB cable and the corresponding PC software, which can be downloaded for free on the Bosch homepage. The corresponding measurement camera app will be available for free in the Google Play Store (Android) and in the Apple App Store (iOS) from the launch date of the instrument.
