In the future, energy-intensive manufacturing companies will have to concern themselves more closely with energy management and greater energy efficiency than they have up to now. The upper and lower houses of the German parliament recently passed an amendment to the Electricity and Energy Tax Act. This law obliges companies to make greater efforts to improve their energy efficiency. Effective January 1, 2013, section 10 of the Electricity Tax Act (StromStG) stipulates that large companies employing more than 250 people ore generating annual sales of more than 50 million euros will only qualify for tax relief if they can show they have started to introduce an energy management system (EnMS) or EU eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS) by the end of 2013.

The services company Bosch Energy and Building Solutions and DEKRA Consulting can offer these companies support in implementing an energy management system and putting technical measures into practice. The aim is to provide customized solutions that combine DEKRA's process expertise and the technical concepts of Bosch Energy and Building Solutions.

“DEKRA Consulting contributes its knowledge at the people and organizations interface. We take care of the technical expertise,” says Michael Blichmann, the general manager of Bosch Energy and Building Solutions GmbH.

“Companies are only able to improve their energy efficiency on a sustained basis through systematically combining technical and organisational measures”, says Dr Gesa Köberle, Head of DEKRA Consulting GmbH.

DEKRA helps companies establish a process-oriented energy management system to DIN EN ISO 50001. Bosch Energy and Building Solutions specializes in energy-efficiency services for commercial buildings. By combining energy concepts, services, and advanced technology, the Bosch experts can achieve average energy savings of 20 percent, while ensuring maximum security of supply. And if required, the Bosch energy-efficiency experts can carry out the energy-technical work that is needed. In this way, the customer receives a complete tailor-made package, and benefits from the experience of two companies from a single source.
