press release

Stuttgart/Reutlingen, Germany – At Bosch eBike Systems the focus of the 2013 model year is on a longer range and greater ease of use. Highlights on show at this year’s EUROBIKE in Friedrichshafen from 29 August to 1 September are the newly developed Intuvia on-board computer and the 400 Wh PowerPack 400 battery.

At 2.6 kilograms the PowerPack 400 weighs little more than and is just as compact as the PowerPack 300, but has an up to 30% longer range. The battery is available in either a frame-mounted or a rear carrier-mounted version and can be fully charged within three and a half hours at most. Using the new, quiet charger it is 80% recharged in two and a half hours.

At the newly designed two-storey trade fair stand Bosch eBike Systems is also unveiling the next generation of eBike on-board computers with the slogan “The e in eBike”. Intuvia, as the name indicates, is intuitive to use and gives the user easy access to a range of information and functions. Using the separate control unit fitted to the handle, the eBiker can select any of five modes – Eco, Tour, Sport, Turbo or Off – without taking his hand off the handlebar. It also enables him – or her – to use the Bosch eBike System’s new pushing aid. The on-board computer’s display also
provides useful information such as the remaining range capacity, the time travelled, the average speed and the motor’s current performance. A builtin USB interface supplies mp3 players or mobile phones with power en route. With Intuvia in its “off-board” mode, the user can also evaluate the data directly after dismounting.

EUROBIKE visitors can even test-ride the system at the Bosch eBike Systems stand. They can step onto the demo bike to experience at first hand the Bosch drive system’s comfort, sporting performance and optimal coordination. Intuvia can also be tested “live” on handlebars at the stand. Information about the Bosch system, consisting of the drive unit, the battery and charger and the Intuvia on-board computer and display, will also be available, of course.

“We unveiled the first Bosch eBike system at Eurobike 2010,” said Claus Fleischer, new head of the Bosch eBike Systems product division. “We are now about to launch our third model range and are delighted by the success that our eBike system has been in the industry. We look forward to a lively exchange with eBike users, manufacturers and the trade at EUROBIKE 2012.”
