press release

Bosch is now for the first time offering two tools with an interchangeable 10.8 volt lithium-ion battery: the AHS 35-15 LI and the AHS 45-15 LI. Ideal for cutting small, immature hedges these compact hedgecutters weigh only 1.9 and 2 kilograms respectively and are astonishingly powerful. This is thanks not only to an optimized gear and motor unit, but also the combination of high cutting speed, long battery runtime and high cutting capacity. Further benefits are the tools’ balanced center of gravity and special ergonomic handles. This enables these cordless powerhouses to be used comfortably, even when used overhead and by both right and left handers.

Equipped for thick and hard branches with “Anti-Blocking” system
The AHS 35-15 LI and AHS 45-15 LI hedgecutters have diamond-ground blades with a length of 35 and 45 centimeters. They offer a tooth opening of 15 millimeters and are equipped with an “Anti-Blocking” system: if they fail to cut through a thick or particularly hard branch at the first attempt and risk getting stuck, micro-electronics in the motor adjust the running direction of the blades so that they are repeatedly applied to the same point until the branch has been cut through.

High flexibility thanks to interchangeable battery with lithium-ion technology
The AHS 35-15 LI and the AHS 45-15 LI are exceptionally mobile and versatile due to their interchangeable 10.8 volt lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion batteries have hardly any self-discharge, so the hedgecutters are ready to use even after lengthy breaks. The batteries also have no memory effect, meaning they can be recharged at any time without suffering a deterioration in battery performance. One battery charge is enough to deliver 50 minutes of uninterrupted hedgecutting. Another advantage is that the 10.8 volt interchangeable battery is compatible with the Bosch DIY tools in this voltage class. For example, it can also be used in the PSM 10,8 LI multi-sander, the PSR 10,8 LI-2 cordless drill/driver and the PMF 10,8 LI multi-function tool.

The right tool for every hedge
With these 10.8 volt hedgecutters Bosch completes its hedgecutter range by providing two entry level models with lithium-ion technology. Anyone who needs to cut especially large, woody hedges can use the tried-and-tested AHS 54-20 LI with 36 volts of power, a blade length of 54 centimeters and a tooth opening of 20 millimeters. The AHS 52 LI with 18 volts, a blade length of 52 centimeters and a tooth opening of 15 millimeters is designed for cutting medium-sized hedges. Bosch is therefore able to offer the right cordless tool for every application.

The AHS 35-15 LI and AHS 45-15 LI hedgecutters will be available at retail outlets from January 2013 onwards at the recommended retail price of 99.99 and 119.99 euros respectively (including VAT). The tools are supplied in a carton with a 10.8 volt lithium-ion battery and a 3 hour charger.
