press release

The Bosch “Compact Generation” is expanding: the latest members of this especially handy and compact line of tools are the PBH 2100 RE and PBH 2100 SRE rotary hammers. The new models are ten percent smaller than their predecessor models, are part of the “Universal” class and are designed for medium-difficulty to demanding hammering, drilling and chiseling work. These tools have different chucks and therefore offer different degrees of versatility. Although both are equipped with SDS-plus for tool-free drill bit and chisel changes, the SRE version comes complete with an additional keyed adapter which enables you to also use straight shank drill bits – the most commonly used accessories for drilling in wood and metal – and screwdriver bits.

These rotary hammers weigh only 2.2 kilograms, have pneumatic hammer mechanisms, offer 550 watts of power and a single impact energy of 1.7 joules, which is 15 percent more impact force than the predecessor models. A no-load speed of up to 2,300 rpm and an impact rate of up to 5,800 bpm ensure fast work progress. These values make the tools twice as fast as the best competitor model.

The tools are suitable for all common applications such as drilling holes in concrete and masonry, and with the keyed adapter they are also suitable for drilling in wood and metal and for inserting and removing screws. The maximum drilling diameters are 20 millimeters in concrete, 30 millimeters in wood and 13 millimeters in steel. A rotary switch is used to select whether the tool drills with or without impact. The chisel function is also selected in the same way. This function is used, for example, to knock old tiles off bathroom and kitchen walls or to cut cable ducts.

Functional equipment for a high level of versatility
Drill bits and chisels are quickly changed using the SDS-plus chuck with “Vario-Lock-System”, which enables you to adjust the chisel to one of 36 positions, so that you can adapt it precisely to the specific work situation. Further advantages are the accelerator switch for a soft drilling start, for example in delicate materials like tiles, the slimline design and the softgrip coverings that make the tool sit securely and comfortably in your hand.

The PBH 2100 RE and PBH 2100 SRE rotary hammers are available at the recommended retail prices of 99.99 euros and 139.99 euros including VAT. They come complete with SDS-plus chuck, auxiliary handle, depth stop and carrying case. The SRE version also has a keyed adapter. Drill bit and chisel sets are also available in Bosch's range of accessories.
