Stuttgart – Change in the board of management: as proposed by the shareholders, the supervisory council of Robert Bosch GmbH has appointed Dr. Stefan Asenkerschbaumer and Wolf-Henning Scheider to the board of management effective July 1, 2010.
Dr. Asenkerschbaumer will succeed Gerhard Kümmel (62), who is entering retirement. He studied business education, business administration, and economics at the University of Nuremberg, before joining the Bosch Group as a commercial trainee in 1987. Prior to his current position as president of the Starter Motors and Generators division, he was also director of the corporate controlling sector of Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart from 2002 to 2006.
Effective July 1, 2010, Wolf-Henning Scheider will assume responsibility for the Chassis Systems Control division from Dr. Bernd Bohr, and for the Electrical Drives and the Starter Motors and Generators divisions from Dr. Volkmar Denner. Scheider joined Bosch as a commercial trainee in 1987, and has been president of the Gasoline Systems division since 2006. He was previously president of the Car Multimedia division, and has also held various marketing and sales posts.
Dr. Volkmar Denner will take over responsibility for the Corporate Sector Research and Advance Engineering, as well as for product planning and technology, from Dr. Siegfried Dais. He will continue to exercise responsibility for the Car Multimedia and Automotive Electronics divisions.
Dr. Siegfried Dais, deputy chairman of the board of management, will focus more on growth areas. These include cross-system, innovative software solutions, and the new business areas Photovoltaics and Health Care Telemedicine. He will retain his responsibility for the Drive and Control Technology division (Bosch Rexroth) and for IT.
Gerhard Kümmel was with the Bosch Group for 36 years. In that time, he has held various positions. From 2002, he was the board of management member responsible for finance and controlling. He studied business administration at the University of Saarbrücken, and started his career at the Bosch plant in Homburg in 1974.
Professor Dr. Hermann Scholl, chairman of the supervisory council of Robert Bosch GmbH and of the shareholders' meeting of Robert Bosch Industrietreuhand KG, said: “We owe a great debt of thanks to Gerhard Kümmel. With his competence and many years of experience, he managed finance and controlling in exemplary fashion, especially also in the financial and economic crisis whose effects we still feel today.”
