Powerful Bosch leisure and marine batteries featuring AGM and EFB technology

Dual-purpose batteries for reliable engine starting satisfy leisure vehicles’ high energy needs

  • Batteries featuring AGM and EFB technology for self-sufficient power supply away from camping facilities and moorings
  • Bosch batteries with strong performance and a robust design specially developed for leisure vehicles and boats
  • Deep-cycle technology and low self-discharge for seasonal use, even with long downtimes over the winter break

Karlsruhe, Germany – Modern recreational vehicles and boats are equipped with an array of electrical devices, and these consume a lot of energy. Ensuring they have a self-sufficient supply of power, even outside of camping facilities and moorings, calls for powerful energy sources that can reliably supply energy over a protracted period of time and be recharged as quickly as possible. Bosch offers high-performance batteries specifically for the leisure and marine sector. Now, it is giving them a technology upgrade from SLI (starting lighting ignition) technology to modern AGM (absorbent glass mat) and EFB (enhanced flooded battery) technology. These dual-purpose batteries are used in modern motorhomes and boats both to start the engine under difficult conditions and to supply power to the vehicles’ many onboard consumers.

Suitable for the considerable demands of motorhomes and boats

In the leisure and marine sector, batteries have to work hard in applications for navigation, emergencies, safety, comfort, and convenience, and also as a result of frequent partial or even deep discharges. In addition, frequent short trips and protracted downtimes put a strain on the battery. Batteries with AGM and EFB technology are particularly suited to these demanding applications. In AGM technology, fiberglass mats soak up the acid like a sponge. In EFB batteries, the positive plate is furnished with a plastic inlay that provides additional support for the active material. Bosch’s AGM and EFB batteries for leisure vehicles and boats deliver high starting currents and offer very high cycle stability. Inside the batteries, a robust grid design made of a special alloy ensures corrosion resistance, a long service life, optimized current flow, and low self-discharge. The deep-cycle technology ensures that the battery is immediately ready for use even after a long period of inactivity such as a winter break. As the batteries are absolutely leakproof and vibration-resistant, they also work perfectly off the beaten track or on swaying boats. What’s more, the AGM and EFB batteries can be combined with other batteries that supply power to, say, an electric winch or rudder. During production, Bosch performs extensive functional and load tests in accordance with international standards to ensure consistently high quality, safety, and performance.
