Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Bosch eBike Systems is continually optimising its products in order to make eBiking more convenient, more harmonious and more elegant. And in many cases it is the little details which make all the difference. For Model Year 2018 there are three new eShift variants for different applications, useful features for the Nyon onboard computer and greater DualBattery compatibility.

Intelligent expansion of eShift

In 2018 the eShift electronic gear solution will be available in three new variants which will ensure convenient gear changing, less wear and greater riding safety. In the derailleur version with Shimano XTR Di2 or Shimano Deore XT Di2, eShift is specially designed for sporty use, e.g. on eMountain bikes. The derailleur system is optimally synchronised with the motor: this ensures speedy, precise gear shifts even on uphill sections. The eShift solution with the hub gear systems Shimano Alfine Di2 and Nexus Di2 is ideally suited for use in urban areas. The automatic gear system ensures fast, smooth gear shifts and complete comfort and convenience for the biker; manual operation is also possible.

For the first time, eShift is being marketed in combination with the Rohloff E-14, the electronic version of the Rohloff Speedhub 500/14 – a particularly sturdy and reliable gear hub designed for a huge mileage performance and characterised by a first-class efficiency factor and outstanding quality. Ideal for commuters and for use with speed pedelecs. As Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems, explains: "With the Rohloff version of eShift we are targeting eBikers for whom performance and speedy, crisp gear shifts are all-important. Plus a very large transmission ratio range – 526 percent – which is unique for pedelecs with hub gear systems."

Facelift for Nyon

Nyon, Bosch's all-in-one onboard computer for eBikes, is entering its fourth season with an update. This includes new map material which indicates additional routes and also factors in recent name changes, roadworks and one-way streets, thus enhancing route planning. The map update also comprises the smartphone app eBike Connect and the online portal ebike-connect.com. A helpful new feature enables the map to be transferred directly to Nyon by means of a joystick. This means that the eBiker has a better overview of his or her route and surroundings. The zoom function is activated by clicking on the centre of the joystick. Following the update, the energy consumption over the last 20 kilometres is displayed – in the app and also in the portal. With the new digital keyboard the destination can be entered easily and conveniently. Further improvements in the graphics, display and menu navigation, coupled with optimised route planning in the online portal, complete the Nyon update in time for the Eurobike trade show and ensure the best possible experience for the eBiker.

DualBattery is expanded

Thanks to a new Y adapter cable which can be connected to different battery cables, various combinations of Bosch batteries (frame, luggage rack or integrable) will be possible with DualBattery from Model Year 2018 onwards. This makes it possible to cover long distances with any type of battery.

Claus Fleischer sums up the numerous detailed improvements for eBike Model Year 2018 as follows: "At Bosch, the primary focus is on the customer. We listen carefully, build the feedback into our development concepts and make every effort to implement customers' wishes as fully as possible. In many cases we spend a lot of time fine-tuning, so that we can move up to the next level."
