Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Bosch eBike Systems is pushing ahead with the development of its eBike ABS: With Shimano as a new partner and additional compatible brake models from Magura and TRP, eBike riders now have even more choice. At the same time, the optimised ABS software ensures noticeably better control when braking.

It is important to us that eBike riders feel safe in every riding situation. With the eBike ABS and the ABS Pro we are making an important contribution to this. In order to make this security enhancement accessible to as many people as possible, we are systematically expanding our range. The expanded portfolio creates more choice and convenience - for both manufacturers and end customers.

Claus Fleischer, CEO of Bosch eBike Systems

New partnership: eBike ABS compatible with Shimano brakes

For the first time, the Bosch eBike ABS and the eBike ABS Pro are compatible with brakes from Shimano and optimally matched to them. Demanding eMTB fans in particular benefit from this: The latest XTR (BR-M9220) and Shimano DEORE XT (BR-M8220) models, together with the ABS Pro, enable uncompromising trail rides. However, Shimano brakes are also used in other eBike categories - from City eBikes to Trekking eBikes and eMTBs. The Shimano BR-MT420 and Shimano BR-MT200 models are now also compatible with the Bosch eBike ABS and provide extra control and a superior riding experience.

New brakes from Magura and TRP - for sporty and urban conditions

Bosch eBike Systems is also expanding its portfolio of compatible brakes with its existing ABS partners, offering eBike riders even more choice for different conditions. Magura is presenting a high-performance solution for demanding mountain bikers with the Magura Gustav Elite, while the new Magura Louise Elite has been specially developed for urban use. Both brakes are now compatible with Bosch eBike ABS. TRP complements the range with the new TRP EVO Pro - a brake that is specifically tailored to the requirements of eMTB riders with the Bosch eBike ABS Pro.

Even more control when braking

Bosch has further optimised the ABS software to regulate the brake pressure more precisely. A new sensor in the Drive Unit1 measures the inclination of the eBike even more accurately, allowing the eBike ABS to calculate more precisely when there is a risk of a rollover. In this way, the Bosch eBike ABS can further reduce the braking distance. The new integrated sensor also enables a cleaner design without a sensor disc on the rear wheel.

More control, more flow: the evolution of Bosch eBike ABS

The Bosch eBike ABS helps to prevent the front wheel from locking and supports eBike riders in avoiding a possible skid or rollover. On the trail, it provides more riding stability, while the eBike ABS Pro is aimed at experienced eMountain bike riders who want to expand their skillset. Since the introduction of the first eBike ABS in 2018, Bosch eBike Systems has consistently developed the technology further: the second generation followed in 2022 and the eBike ABS Pro was introduced in 2024 for particularly demanding conditions. With the now extended compatibility and the new software, Bosch is taking the next step - for more security, riding fun and flow.

1 The new sensor is available for the Performance Line CX (BDU384Y), Performance Line CX-R (BDU386Y), Performance Line Speed (BDU388Y), Performance Line PX, Performance Line (BDU346Y) and Performance Line Sport (BDU347Y).
