Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Two new drive systems, a special mode for eMountain bikes, an eBike battery that can be integrated and the first series-production anti-lock braking system for pedelecs – Bosch eBike Systems is bringing along numerous innovations and technical developments to Eurobike. The global market leader in the premium eBike drive systems segment will present them from 30 August to 2 September 2017 at the leading international trade fair for the cycling industry in Friedrichshafen (Hall A6, Stand 201 and 202).

New drive systems for city trips and light touring

With the new Active Line and Active Line Plus, eBike trips in both urban environments and the countryside will be even more comfortable from now on: An improved drive concept is provided by a light, quiet motor that offers gentle acceleration – with minimal pedalling resistance when in 'Off' mode or when travelling at over 25 km/h. The new Active Line offers torque of up to 40 Nm and therefore gives the correct amount of support for a relaxed cycling experience in towns; the 'Plus' version supports the rider with powerful 50 Nm on excursions or tours.

eMTB mode for the Performance Line CX

The eMTB mode replaces the previous Sport mode of the Performance Line CX and switches between the Tour and Turbo modes. Depending on the pedal pressure, the progressive motor support automatically adapts the cycling mode and dynamically supports the rider's performance from 120 to 300 per cent. This ensures a natural riding sensation. The Eco, Tour and Turbo modes remain unchanged. The eMTB mode is available from retailers as a software update. The Performance Line CX will also get an additional new feature in autumn 2017: The more powerful walk assistance will provide increased support up to 6 km/h.

eBike battery that can be integrated combines technology and design

The PowerTube 500 can be integrated into the pedelec frame and can be installed either horizontally or vertically. The installable battery enables safe, simple and comfortable handling: When unlocked, the battery pops out of the frame by about two centimetres to enable easier removal. The lithium-ion battery, which holds around 500 Wh, can also be charged directly on the bike.

Updates to the Nyon, app and portal

The update covers current maps, new features for route planning, altitude preview, energy consumption and an improved display of the rider's performance. A new keypad layout ensures simple and convenient entry. The eBike Connect online portal offers optimised user guidance; the revised map manager in the eBike Connect app is also worth mentioning for its new functions.

Anti-lock braking system for Pedelecs

With the introduction of the first production-ready anti-lock braking system (ABS) for eBikes, Bosch is now bringing a product to the market that increases traffic safety for the rider and their environment. This new development means the pedelec prevents the front wheel from locking up and limits any lifting of the rear wheel using an intelligent system. Bosch eBike ABS will be used with selected fleet partners in German-speaking countries from autumn 2017. Bosch eBike ABS will be available to retailers from autumn 2018.

Specialist visitors can test the Bosch eBike ABS during the Eurobike business days on the external course (Bosch stand DA-419).
