press release

Johannesburg, South Africa – At Propak 2016 Bosch Packaging Technology, a leading supplier of processing and packaging equipment, will present its vertical packaging solutions designed to enable manufacturers achieve continuous high-quality production, differentiate products from competition and increase sales. This year's exhibits are specifically tailored for the needs of manufacturers looking to take the first steps in automation, or elevate their offerings to the next level. Bosch's vertical portfolio features proven technologies taken from high-end baggers, such as servo-driven cross-sealing units and vacuum belts, which assure reliable, highly-efficient packaging and increased uptime. In addition, Bosch provides line solutions, including auger fillers, weighers and dosing systems – all from a single source designed for easy integration, maintenance and minimized training.

“With product life cycles becoming shorter and consumer demands requiring manufacturers to react quicker than ever before, Southern African producers are seeking ways to cost-effectively test new markets and satisfy more niche segments,” said Steffen Manke, general manager, Bosch Packaging Technology South Africa. “Our Southern African customers benefit from a local presence, which provides a dedicated, on-the-ground support force. Additionally, all Bosch products are backed by its global expertise, which stems from the thousands of installed lines – across the world – with its own dedicated centre of competence for vertical packaging in Weert, the Netherlands.”

Boost your output with increased bagger reliability
For confectionery, snacks, grains and other food and non-food producers, Bosch will launch the SVI 2600 – the company's mid-range vertical bagger. It features high-quality Bosch technology developed for reduced downtime and minimum machine wear making for a longer life span. Through simplified design and tool-less adjustments, the SVI 2600 provides user-friendly operation. The intermittent motion bagger can produce pillow, gusseted, and block-bottom bags at rates up to 100 bags per minute. A large film reel diameter of 650 millimetres reduces the number of film changes required, further increasing uptime. In addition, the intuitive human machine interface (HMI) enables ease of use and minimal operator training.

Hygienic vertical solution for high product quality
For fresh and frozen food producers, as well as powder manufacturers, Bosch offers its innovative SVC vertical packaging machine platform. Designed with simplicity, versatility and cleanability in mind, it focuses on hygienic design to help manufacturers meet diverse food handling regulations. Composed of a stainless steel frame, the SVC platform offers manufacturers a streamlined design and clutter-free workspaces, simplifying cleaning and maintenance operations. Additional hygienic features include sloped stainless steel surfaces, which ensure efficient drainage and prevent food residue build-up, less holes and slots for product build up and reduced amount of cables.

The platform also accommodates multiple bag styles, including pillow, gusseted, block bottom and corner seal, with various reclose and easy-opening features in different bag sizes up to 400 millimeters. Manufacturers can also choose their desired sealing technology, including poly heat seal (PHS), heat seal (HS), and ultrasonic.

Take the first steps in automation with entry-level VFFS machine
Bosch will also highlight its entry-level vertical bagger Terra 25, which is ideal for manufacturers looking to automate their production of free-flowing goods from powders, grains, and chips. This cost-effective machine offers excellent accessibility, reliability and robustness, coupled with fast, tool-less changeovers for efficient production of up to 70 bags per minute. The bagger is pneumatically driven, easy to maintain and reliable. It also incorporates a belt draw-off system in combination with double film transport for increased efficiency. This system provides excellent web tracking reproducible longitudinal seams, which results in minimum film waste. The machine's control is all handled by a single programmable logic controller (PLC), decreasing operator training and increasing uptime.

Stand out from the crowd with Doy Zip from Bosch
For chocolate, nuts and confectionery producers looking to boost their brand and differentiate from competitors, Bosch offers the SVE 2520 DZ, the fastest vertical bagger with Doy Zip functionality on the market. The compact continuous-motion machine features a unique, patent-pending zipper applicator that enables the production of up to 100 high-quality Doy Zip bags per minute, allowing for high return on investment. In addition, the SVE 2520 DZ offers seven different bag styles: pillow, gusseted, block bottom, corner seal, full corner, 3-sided, and doy, with various reclosure options, including zipper. Changeovers from pillow to Doy Zip take as little as 45 minutes, maximizing machine uptime. Manufacturers can visit to learn more about Bosch's technology and request a sample bag.

Benefit from a single-source solution provider on the ground
As part of its extended portfolio, Bosch also provides Southern African producers stick pack and sachet, mandrel wheel, coffee filling and packaging solutions, as well as various coffee protection technologies. Bosch experts will be on hand throughout the show to explain the company's full portfolio. The team will also be available to discuss its after-sales services offerings ranging from standard services to complete service packages, which provide customers with on-the-ground Bosch support.

To learn more, visit Bosch at Propak Africa in the Expo Centre, Nasrec, Johannesburg, South Africa, from March 15 to 18 in hall 6, booth 6F6.
