press release

Cordless tools from Bosch for do-it-yourselfers enable up to 85 percent more applications than comparable competitor tools. Their superior performance and runtime is based on optimum coordination of key components such as the motor and gearbox combined with an intelligent electronic system called the “Syneon Chip”. This gives do-it-yourselfers optimum power and maximum endurance at all times for every project. With the PSR 18 LI-2 cordless drill driver, for example, do-it-yourselfers can drive up to 60 percent more screws (6 x 80 mm) per battery charge and drill up to 85 percent more holes (6 x 50 mm) than with comparable competitor tools. This has been confirmed by an independent testing and certification institute. Moreover, the tools retain their full performance until the battery is empty. The Bosch cordless tools therefore enable do-it-yourselfers to drive screws, drill, saw, sand or vacuum powerfully until the end.

New batteries and chargers
From July 2015, the core range of 14.4 and 18 volt cordless tools for do-it-yourselfers will also receive new batteries with 2.5 Ah and a quick charger with 3.0 ampere charging current. These tools therefore offer a 25 percent longer runtime than the predecessors, and the batteries are charged twice as fast. The battery has also been made easier to handle. It is more compact than its predecessor and more convenient to change. For this purpose, the button the do-it-yourselfer uses to unlock the battery has been made larger. The 2.5 Ah battery also excels due to its robust design. The integrated cell holder keeps the battery cells stable in the housing at all times. A softgrip covering has been implemented too. It ensures that the battery fits well in the hand when it is changed and that the tool is standing in a secure position.

The AL 1830 CV charger recharges the new 2.5 Ah batteries twice as fast as the previous charger. To enable do-it-yourselfers to carry on working even sooner, this charger also has a “Ready to Go” function for the first time. A green LED indicates the moment in which the battery is 80 percent charged and therefore ready to use again. After only 40 minutes of charging, do-it-yourselfers can therefore carry on with their project and save time.

The 2.5 Ah battery and the AL 1830 CV quick charger will be available individually at retail outlets from July 2015 onwards. The battery is compatible with all 14.4 and 18 volt tools from Bosch for do-it-yourselfers – from the cordless drill driver with 14.4 volts to the “Power4All” 18 volt system which currently comprises 13 tools from a cordless jigsaw to a cordless hand-held vacuum cleaner. From July 2015 onwards, all cordless tools in the core range for do-it-yourselfers will also be supplied with the 2.5 Ah batteries and quick chargers.
