press release

As the manufacturer of diagnostics systems and a broad product range of special tools, the traditional American brand OTC is established today in many markets. Customers value the good price-performance ratio, the reliable quality, and the robustness and easy handling of OTC products.

The range of OTC special tools is constantly expanded in cooperation with automotive manufacturers and includes special tools for all vehicle components – from wheels and tires, to damping and steering to brakes, engine and transmission.

Product highlights at the Automechanika
The new diagnostics system D750 Genisys Touch will celebrate its premiere in the European market at the Automechanika. With the mobile workshop device the vehicle can be identified by means of the chassis number. It is operated via a 10" touchscreen and connected wirelessly to an interface module that establishes the connection to the OBD diagnostic plug in the vehicle. The newly developed software HUB with intuitive user interface offers extensive vehicle coverage and diagnostic depth. Moreover, the mechatronics technician receives up-to-date service and repair information and is guided through troubleshooting and component tests. Data updates are downloaded regularly via the Internet.

In the area of emissions, OTC will introduce two new emissions analyzers at the Automechanika, the E060 for gasoline motors and the E070 for diesel motors. Both are currently available in the Italian market and supplement the existing generation of OTC emissions analyzers, Stargas 898 and 495/01. Both devices are mobile versions that are controlled as stand-alone devices by radio transmission via a PC. The introduction of the emissions analyzers E060/070 in other European countries will follow successively.

With the start of the Automechanika, the new website www.otctools.com will go online with a large amount of information on OTC products around vehicle diagnostics as well as special tools and workshop equipment.

OTC – an established traditional American brand
OTC is rooted in the US: with the increasing number of automobiles on US-American roads, a growing demand for tools for their repair emerged. Already in 1925, Reuben Kaplan founded the Owatonna Tool Company – OTC. In 1927, OTC developed the special tools that were necessary to repair the planetary gear of the popular Ford Model T. During the 1930s, OTC sold its tools directly to farmers and workshops all over the US. In 1985, OTC was acquired by the diagnostics and service specialist SPX Service Solutions that continued to market the established brand and expanded the product range especially in the area of diagnostics systems. Since December 2012, the OTC brand is part of the Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Business Division. Bosch Automotive Service Solutions plans on keep expanding the OTC product range continuously also in the future.
