press release

The robotic lawnmower Indego from Bosch is about to get connected. Using the Bosch Smart Gardening App it can be operated from wherever you are, simply and conveniently by means of a Smartphone or tablet. Bosch is very aware that more and more people are using Apps to make their everyday lives easier. Whether they wish to find the next filling station, to communicate with others faster or even to control their home environment (heaters, lights, roller blinds etc.) remotely. The Indego 1200 Connect combines simple operation via an intuitive App with its established and unique "LogiCut" intelligent navigation system. By doing so it delivers the ultimate lawncare convenience, plus a minimum 30 percent faster lawn cut compared to random navigation cutting. This is Smart Gardening from Bosch.

Intuitive control via App – this is how it works:
Once the Indego 1200 Connect has been setup within your garden, getting connected is easy: Simply scan the QR code on the packaging, install the App (from Google Play Store, Apple App Store or Windows Store), register with your e-mail address and a password then scan in the QR code on your product. It's as easy as that. Now you can initiate mowing, pause cutting, send the mower back to the charging station or even disable it completely (e.g. in the event of theft) by the touch of your fingertips. An integrated calendar also allows you to define the cutting schedule. When cutting, the position of your Indego 1200 Connect in the garden can be viewed, as well as the area that it has already mowed. You are also informed when the robotic lawnmower requires attention, for example in the event of a lift-up, when cutting blades need to be checked or if software updates are available. Information on which accessories are available is provided, along with links to online retailers selling them.

Data transmission to and from the Indego 1200 Connect is by means of GSM, the Global System for Mobile Communications, the most popular mobile radio standard in the world. The Indego 1200 Connect will automatically select the strongest signal in your area, irrespective of the network provider ensuring it will always* have a connection to its central hub. This enables you to manage your Indego 1200 Connect from wherever you are, at any time via your App – from the comfort of your sofa at home, whilst sat on a bus or train or even whilst relaxing on holiday. When using the Bosch Smart Gardening App, standard data charges apply (as set out by your mobile network provider). There is however no cost to you for the connection between the Indego 1200 Connect and the mobile network. The Bosch Smart Gardening App is designed for Smartphones (Android from version 4.1, iOS from version 6, Windows Phone from version 8) and tablets (Android from version 4.1 and iOS from version 6).

Tried-and-tested technology for autonomous lawnmowing
The Indego 1200 Connect works in the same manner as the standard Indego, completely independently within a pre-defined lawn area. During the installation phase, the lawn area is determined using the perimeter wire supplied. The Indego's Bosch-designed "LogiCut" navigation system works using a combination of software and different sensors. With the help of these sensors, the Indego 1200 Connect maps the lawn area during the setup phase and then takes an efficient cutting path for every subsequent cutting session. The robotic lawnmower cuts in parallel lanes and remembers where it has already been thus ensuring that each area is only cut once. This enables it to mow the same lawn area at least 30 percent faster than if it had a random navigation cutting system.

The Indego 1200 Connect is recommended for lawn areas of up to 1200 square meters. As with the standard model, it is powered by a lithium-ion battery and is able to mow continuously for up to 50 minutes on one battery charge, mowing an area of up to 200 square meters at a time with a cutting width of 26 centimeters. The height of cut can be adjusted to 10 different settings, from 20 millimeters to a maximum of 60 millimeters. The Indego 1200 Connect leaves any mown grass on the lawn as finely cut clippings which decompose and fertilize the grass. During cutting, the lawnmower recognizes any obstacles it bumps into and maneuvers around them accordingly. If the Indego 1200 Connect is lifted up whilst cutting, its blades stop immediately. The mower can also be halted at any time using the App or the red safety button on the machine body. The mower is protected against theft by an audible signal and a security PIN code. For the Indego 1200 Connect, an additional security feature has been introduced which allows users to disable the mower via the App.

The Indego 1200 Connect will be available at retail outlets from January 2015 onwards at the recommended retail price of 1749 euros including VAT. It is supplied in a carton with a docking station, 250 meter perimeter wire and 500 fixing pegs.
