Stuttgart/Reutlingen – Behind the electronic tailwind of more than 50 leading bicycle brands in Europe, there are perfectly coordinated and very powerful eBike drive systems with high quality and reliability “Made by Bosch.” The respective product lines consist of high-performance drive units, long-lasting batteries, and intuitive cycle computers. In short: Bosch eBike Systems develops, produces, and markets fascinating, innovative products that excite people and provide a unique riding experience.

Five years of Bosch eBike Systems – From startup to global player
In 2014 Bosch eBike Systems will be celebrating its fifth birthday. What began in 2009 as a startup company within the Bosch Group has grown into a successful product division which has had a critical influence on the eBike market. Since 2012, Bosch eBike Systems has been at the top of the European market. This was followed in March 2014 by the market launch in North America with an office in Irvine, California. Starting in July 2014, Bosch eBike Systems will be represented in Asia with its own office in Suzhou, China. The headquarters of the global Bosch product division is located in the Swabian town of Reutlingen near Stuttgart.

More fun with eBiking
With its product lines, Bosch has precisely met the needs of eBikers in different application areas: The dynamic and powerful Performance Line shows how much fun sportive biking with electrical assistance can be, so that performance-oriented riders are also appealed to. City, touring, and recreational cyclists experience how the Active Line shows its strengths with harmonious and well-measured support, offering unparalleled eBike enjoyment. In fall 2014, Nyon will be coming to stores as the first all-in-one eBike cycle computer with an integrated navigation and fitness function as well as smartphone connectivity. For the first time, the multifunctional cycle computer forms the interface between the virtual eBike world and the personal life of eBikers. The user can extend Nyon with the apps appropriate for him and thus adapt it to his individual needs.

At Eurobike 2014, Bosch eBike Systems is presenting even more new products: In addition to solutions for connecting integrated gear shifting systems from different manufacturers, the company is presenting a convenient Travel Charger and a Charger Adapter. In addition, new and individual design variants of the Drive Unit provide more visual variety in the eBikes equipped with them.

Bosch and e-mobility
Mobility has always played a central role at Bosch. That is why engagement in the area of e-mobility is a logical step for Bosch. The company recognized early on that bicycles and electric mobility complement each other very well, and for this reason has deliberately focused on drive systems for pedelecs. The product division Bosch eBike Systems makes use of synergies within the Bosch Group, concentrating this expertise under one roof.

“Our employees develop fascinating and beneficial solutions in the field of e-mobility,” says Claus Fleischer, head of the product division Bosch eBike Systems. “They work with passion for a forward-looking eBike world and make an important contribution to the mobility of tomorrow.”
