press release

Stuttgart/Reutlingen – There are eBike riders who want to get from point A to point B comfortably. There are eBike riders who want to do this as quickly as possible. And there are those who use the eBike mainly for leisure and for training purposes. However, there’s one thing eBikers all have in common: They enjoy cycling and want to have as much fun as possible doing it. The European market leader Bosch eBike Systems has two current product lines designed so that the variety of application areas is the best possible and everyone can find the perfect eBike for themselves. The Active Line operates harmoniously and is the right system for riders who want to be supported in a responsive and metered fashion. For the sportsminded, the powerful Performance Line is the right choice: a dynamic system with a direct response characteristic. Thanks to the uniform and at the same time diverse design language, both product lines can be optimally integrated in a variety of frame types, shapes, and colors.

Active Line – the agile, harmonious model
The Active Line features responsive and well-metered support as well as harmonious and agile handling. It is particularly suitable for occasional eBikers and shopping trips or for a bike ride with a city or touring eBike. If desired, the Active Line is also available with a backpedal function. The corresponding energy is provided by the two rechargeable batteries PowerPack 300 and PowerPack 400, which can be installed as frame or rack batteries. Intuvia Active is the matching cycle computer for the line. All components have a clean appearance in the colors of Platinum and Black. The Active Line is available with the Drive Unit Cruise (support up to 25 km/h).

Performance Line – the powerful, dynamic model
The Performance Line is extremely powerful, direct, and dynamic in support. As an alternative to Drive Unit Cruise (support up to 25 km/h), the fast Drive Unit Speed (support up to 45 km/h) can be chosen as a higher performance option. Its sporty design makes it particularly suitable for installation in eBikes for sportive use. The Performance Line is the most powerful Bosch line and designed for fast, fit, and athletic bikers who enjoy being on the go with mountain eBikes or trekking eBikes. The rechargeable batteries PowerPack 300 (frame battery) and PowerPack 400 (frame and rack battery) supply the necessary energy for long trips. In terms of color, the Performance Line is distinguished by the combination Anthracite/Black.

New and initially available exclusively in conjunction with the Performance Line is Nyon, the first multi-functional all-in-one eBike cycle computer, which offers fitness and navigation features as well as smartphone connectivity in addition the eBike functions. The proven Intuvia display of course also continues to be available.

Technical subtleties appreciated by the eBiker
“We develop our eBike product lines with the aim of simplifying life and mobility for as many people as possible while increasing riding pleasure. This of course includes technical subtleties like the new shift recommendation. It uses an arrow indicator on the Intuvia display to indicate at the right moment when the eBiker should shift gears in order to make optimal use of the battery,” explains Tamara Winograd, Section Manager of Marketing Communications at Bosch eBike Systems.

The drive system features further refinements appreciated by the eBiker: For example, the Drive Unit is characterized by high-performance electronics, including a 32-bit processor; shift detection ensures smooth shifting sequences and less chain wear. The 3-sensor concept increases the riding dynamics – 1000 sensor measurements per second generate optimal out-put. A low-vibration motor with low weight and volume, as well as a small and light chain ring, rounds out the profile of the current Drive Unit. A useful addition is also provided by the “Walk” function: In conjunction with the Drive Unit Cruise, walk assistance up to 6 km/h (depending on gear) is available; with the Drive Unit Speed, there is start-up help up to 18 km/h.
