Stuttgart/Reutlingen – On 19 and 20 July 2014 the idyllic course at the open-air woodland swimming baths in Bad Säckingen will be transformed once more into an exciting racetrack of thrills and spills for German mountain bike professionals and up-and-coming regional youngsters. The programme will include for the first time this year the German cross-country championships for eMountain bikes.

For German mountain bikers the Bosch Gold Trophy Sabine Spitz is the highlight of the season. Top-flight stars such as Sabine Spitz, Manuel Fumic and Moritz Milatz will be competing for the national title in the Olympic cross-country discipline. The Sabine Spitz Juniors Trophy will be at least as exciting, with up-and-coming U15 to U19 youngsters demonstrating their mountain bike skills.

Bosch eBike Systems is supporting the event as its title sponsor. “Mountain bikes with electric assistance are proving increasingly popular with leisure and professional cyclists alike, so it is only logical for eMountain bikers to be able to compete in German eMTB championships this year,” says Claus Fleischer, Head of the Bosch eBike Systems product division.

eMountain bikes capable of speeds of up to 25 km/h can take part
Participants in the first German eMountain Bike Championships will be under starter's orders at 11.00 a.m. on Sunday, 20 July. With pedal assistance for speeds up to 25 km/h the eBikers will cycle round the 3.9-km course as fast and as often as they can over a 30-minute period. The varied and spectacular cross-country course will enable them to put their electric “tail wind” to especially good use, riding on different kinds of terrain, covering a difference in altitude of nearly 150 metres per lap, and coping with obstacles, jumps and steep turns.
