Böblingen – Since 1 May 2013 a market incentive programme by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMU) is in effect. It subsidises stationary decentralised battery storage systems connected to a photovoltaic system, which is connected to the electrical grid. The qualification for the subsidy programme is linked to strict technical requirements.

Available since last year, the BPT-S 5 Hybrid by Bosch Power Tec is fully eligible, as it fulfils all technical requirements. Continuous reduction of feed-in performance to 60 percent is required to help relieve the local grid. The Bosch storage system meets this requirement in an easy and intelligent manner. However, the remaining power is not lost for the system operator. The energy management system integrated into the system ensures that the remaining energy is either used directly in the household or is stored for later use in the high-performance lithium-ion batteries. Even the seven-year current market value warranty required by the subsidising body is already available from Bosch. This means that, should there be a defect within the first seven years, the system operator will receive the respective current market value of the battery in compensation. This ensures the quality and life cycle of the storage system.

Up to 660 euros per kWp system performance eligible
The subsidy limit depends on the size of the photovoltaic system and the land acquisition costs of the storage system. 30 percent of the calculated costs are subsidised by the state. This is valid for systems connected to the grid after 1 January 2013. With a combined installation of a photovoltaic system with storage the operator receives up to € 600 per kilowatt peak (kWp) of the PV generator performance. Retrofitting a system enables a subsidy of up to € 660 per kWp. The state-owned KfW bank group guarantees a low-interest loan for the purchase amount.

The state also subsidises the purchase with an attractive amortisation subsidy; the credit application therefore has to be at least as much as the calculated subsidy.

BPT-S 5 Hybrid meets the highest safety standards
The BPT-S 5 Hybrid meets the highest international safety standards. Special attention was paid to the safety of the batteries. Sophisticated software for the individual monitoring of each individual battery cell as well as construction solutions in the casing make this system unparalleled in terms of safety. The BPT-S 5 Hybrid by Bosch is the only PV storage system in the world in which the entire system is type-approved. All components have been properly tested and assessed for safety by an independent institute. Such systems are generally the only ones acknowledged by building insurance policies. KfW also explicitly advises its customers to check this before choosing a storage system.

The BPT-S 5 Hybrid is available from a storage capacity of 4.4 kWh and can be modularly expanded in 2.2 kWh steps to up to 13.2 kWh, if necessary.
