press release

Stuttgart/Reutlingen, Germany – Spectacular leaps, breath-taking stunts and a wide range of races are all part of the promise of the Sparkassen Mountain Bike Festival, to be held from 28 to 30 March 2014 in Stuttgart's Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Hall. The Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour (FMB) with silver event status is bringing the international freeriding scene to Stuttgart. Race feeling is guaranteed. The Cross Country Eliminator, the LBS Mountain Bike Cup, the Corporate Race and the Bosch eBike Race testify to the variety of cycling races over the three days of the festival. One competitor will be Germany's mountain bike Olympic gold medallist Sabine Spitz, who is competing in the eMountain Bike race with additional “tailwind”.

Olympic champion competes in Bosch eBike Race
For friends of speed on two wheels there is a premiere with a difference on Sunday, 30 March. At 13:30 hours the Bosch eBike Race will start with high-calibre contestants. They include mountain bike professional Sabine Spitz, who is ready for the eBike challenge. “It is naturally a very special event when a world-class biker like Sabine Spitz, who has won several Olympic medals, competes in an eMountain Bike race. Other top athletes and teams will be in there with her to show just what can be done with an eBike,” says Claus Fleischer, head of the Bosch eBike Systems product division.

The eBike race is immediately followed by the finals of the individual dirt jump competition.

Big names in the MTB scene sound out the frontiers of physics
In the kick-off event of the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour (FMB), the most important date on the freeride mountain biker's calendar, the Sparkassen Mountain Bike Festival has a real highlight in its programme. Big names in the MTB scene such as the exceptionally talented German biker Peter Henke and last year's FMB World Tour winner Sam Pilgrim of the UK and his fellow-countryman Sam Reynolds are sounding out the frontiers of physics in the dirt jump event.
The Cross Country Eliminator also features big names. As in cross-country skiing or snowboarding, from the last 16 on, four bikers compete against each other on a highly demanding course. In Stuttgart they will include Nadine Rieder and Andy Eyring, both of whom are among the world's current foremost mountain bikers.

MTB goes eBike
Innovations that are well worth taking a look at will be on show at the dealers' and manufacturers' stands at the bicycle show in the adjacent exhibition halls. They will include eMountain Bikes with the latest Bosch drive systems and they can be put through their paces on an eBike test course.
That is a good opportunity to try out for yourself the additional “tailwind” and discover the unique feeling that riding an eBike gives you. Should you have any questions about eBikes and eMountain Bikes, trained personnel will be there are the expo to advise and answer them.
