press release

The Ixo adapters from Bosch can open wine bottles, season food, light charcoal, drive screws around corners, and much more. They provide practical help with everyday tasks and will in future all be permanently included in the range and also available individually. Everybody will therefore be able to choose their favorite adapters from a total of 7 adapters to compile their very own Ixo collection. In addition to the previous special editions, namely the “Vino”, “Spice” and “Barbecue”, the tried-and-tested DIY adapters – angle screw adapter, offset angle adapter and torque setting adapter – will also be available to choose from.

One, two, three – cut
A new addition to the collection is a universal cutting adapter called “Cutter”. It effortlessly cuts different materials such as decorative fabrics, cardboard and carpet, and delivers the ideal cut in numerous household, hobby and DIY applications. Its blade is self-sharpening, eliminating the need for blade changes. The Ixo universal cutting adapter is ready to use in only three steps: remove the black cap on the Ixo, click on the adapter and press the red switch – then this handy adapter can be used to cut different materials up to six millimeters thick. When doing so, the cordless screwdriver sits comfortably in the hand. It weighs only about 480 grams including adapter and fits in any drawer. Compact and powerful, it gets its energy from its integrated lithium-ion battery.

Parallel to the market launch of the Ixo Collection, Bosch is offering prize draws and films at
All previous adapters will be available at retail outlets from May 2014 on-wards. The recommended retail price is 15.99 euros per adapter. The universal cutting adapter will be offered by Bosch from October 2014 onwards for 19.99 euros. It will then also be available as a set version for 64.99 euros. The silver packaging box contains the Ixo cordless screwdriver, the ten screwdriver bits supplied as standard, the charger and the “Cutter” adapter.

About the Ixo from Bosch
When a cordless screwdriver sells 13 million units worldwide, then it must have had its finger firmly on the pulse of its time. The Ixo from Bosch even achieved something more than this, revolutionizing the DIY market in 2003 with its lightweight design. In a world full of heavy, large and clunky power tools, the Ixo presented itself as a small, lightweight and handy tool. Its practical “always ready” functionality, coupled with its slimline design, quickly made it a sought-after alternative to the classical hand screwdriver. The tool is being continually improved: the current version with “Cutter” adapter covers the “cutting” application for the first time.
