press release

Bosch is expanding its successful multi-sander series to include two new corded tools: the PSM 100 A and PSM 200 AES. The PSM 100 A is a solid basic tool for occasional sanding work. It is particularly handy, provides 100 watts of power, and works in the same way as the 200 watt PSM 200 AES with the tried and tested sanding plate split into two parts in the shape of an iron: the rear part of the sanding plate remains in position, while the delta-shaped tip is fitted flexibly. The tip can be rotated every time the multi-sander is used, which reduces wear and significantly increases its lifetime.

Providing even greater flexibility: the PSM 200 AES multi-sander
The PSM 200 AES provides even greater flexibility: it is delivered with an additional rectangular sanding plate which is 18 x 9 centimeters in size. With the sanding surface that is approximately 60 percent larger, surfaces can be sanded even more quickly and efficiently than with the previous sanding plate. This is particularly easy thanks to the new two-handed grip: whilst one hand rests comfortably on the front at the tool’s head, the other hand pushes the PSM 200 AES effortlessly over the surface. This means comfortable and controlled work. The adjustable speed also contributes to this. Six different speeds can be set, which means the tool can be adapted to different materials. This is an advantage, for example, on painted surfaces: to prevent the painted surface from getting too hot during sanding, which causes smearing and clogs the abrasive, the do-it-yourselfer can simply select a lower speed with the rotary button. If smaller or narrower surfaces such as the corners of door or window frames require sanding, the SDS system enables the rectangular sanding plate to be replaced with the iron-shaped plate with pointed tip quickly and without tools. Other sanding accessories can be used, such as a louver sanding attachment or a so-called sanding finger with which you can easily get between the spars of the backs of chairs, for example. The PSM 200 AES therefore covers the entire range of sanding applications, from the smallest tasks to large-surface sanding.

Both multi-sanders are compact, ergonomically shaped, and, weighing in at 0.9 and 1.4 kilograms respectively, have an optimized power-to-weight ratio. Their sanding paper is securely attached to the sanding plate by means of a micro Velcro-type fastening system, but at the same time it can also be removed and re-attached easily. The supplied microfilter box ensures low dust levels during work. Alternatively, do-it-yourselfers can also connect an external dust extraction system to the dust extraction outlet.

The PSM 100 A and PSM 200 AES multi-sanders will be available at retail outlets from April 2014 onwards at the recommended retail price of 59.99 euros and 99.99 euros respectively including VAT. They are supplied in a plastic case: the PSM 100 A with three sanding sheets of different grits, the PSM 200 AES with one sanding sheet per sanding plate. Accessories such as sanding sheets, sanding fingers, or louver sanding attachments are available in the Bosch accessories range.
