press release

Bosch is expanding its existing range of cordless tools with EC motors to include three more tools: the GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional cordless drywall screwdriver, the GSR 10,8 V-EC Professional cordless drill/driver, and the GSR 10,8 V-EC HX Professional cordless screwdriver. From September, Bosch’s range will also include the previously announced GOP 18 V-EC Professional cordless multi-cutter (detailed information at www.bosch-press.com, search term “PI8052”). The new cordless tools with EC motors are especially suitable for serial applications and set new standards for efficient and powerful screwdriving, drilling, cutting and sanding.

The basis for this is their brushless EC motor: it is exceptionally efficient and enables professional tradespeople to work for up to 30 percent longer per battery charge due to its high degree of efficiency. It is also completely maintenance-free. Moreover, its high degree of efficiency reduces heat loss and the tools do not get as hot. In addition to this, the Electronic Motor Protection (EMP) protects the tool against overload: it shuts the motor down immediately if it stalls. As a result of these factors, the lifetime of Bosch cordless tools with EC motors is double that of tools with conventional motors. The EC technology also enables a very compact and light-weight design of the tools. This makes them easy to use overhead and in tight spaces or hard-to-reach areas.

The EC cordless tools are especially suitable for continuous use on the jobsite or in the workshop: the GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional cordless dry-wall screwdriver, for example, for driving a series of screws in plaster-board, the GSR 10,8 V-EC HX Professional cordless screwdriver for driving a series of screws in wooden beams, and the GOP 18 V-EC Professional cordless multi-cutter for applications such as quick and easy trimming of door frames, in order to cleanly lay parquet and laminate.

New from September 2013:
GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional cordless drywall screwdriver
The GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional is the first cordless drywall screwdriver in the “dynamicseries” from Bosch, which is a series of exceptionally compact tools with long battery runtime. With a 4.0 Ah battery, the GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional drives per battery charge up to 3,400 screws, 3.5 millimeters in diameter and 35 millimeters in length, in plasterboard on metal profiles. This is done at a speed of 4,200 revolutions per minute, ensuring fast work progress on the jobsite. The brushless EC motor is encapsulated to reliably protect the tool from dust. Moreover, the GSR 18 V-EC TE Professional has a head length of only 207 millimeters, making it the shortest cordless drywall screwdriver in the 18 volt class. Its design is so compact that it weighs only 1.6 kilograms with a 4.0 Ah battery despite having a robust metal gearbox. It is therefore exceptionally handy and enables applications with high precision. The features of the cordless drywall screwdriver are completed by comprehensive accessories such as the MA 55 Professional collated screwgun attachment for Bosch collated screw strips. One strip contains 50 screws. This enables serial applications or overhead applications to be performed in an exceptionally quick and efficient manner. The adjustable depth stop ensures an exact screwdriving depth even at full speed, while the locking button on the accelerator switch ensures low user fatigue.

Two handy screwdrivers with 10.8 volts
The GSR 10,8 V-EC Professional cordless drill/driver and the GSR 10,8 V-EC HX Professional cordless screwdriver with universal bit holder weigh 0.9 and 0.7 kilograms respectively and have a head length of 163 and 135 millimeters respectively, making them the lightest and shortest screwdrivers in the respective 10.8 volt class. They are especially comfortable in the hand, work with a maximum torque of 20 newton meters, a maximum speed of 1,300 revolutions per minute, and are suitable for a wide range of applications such as screwdriving in wood, metal and plastics. The GSR 10,8 V-EC Professional cordless drill/driver also drills holes of up to 10 millimeter diameter in steel and up to 30 millimeters in wood. It offers a life-time double that of conventional tools with DC motors. Moreover, up to 770 screws, 4 x 40 millimeters in size, can be driven in softwood with one battery charge thanks to the efficiency increase provided by using EC technology in conjunction with a 2.0 Ah battery. Maximum work progress is therefore achieved in minimal time. If the user has to interrupt his work, he can simply attach the cordless drill/driver to his belt using a clip. The required bits are always within reach thanks to the bit holder on the tool. Professional tradespeople can also individualize their GSR 10,8 V-EC Professional using attachable colored clips. This makes it easy to differentiate between tools of the same model on the jobsite.

Powerful cordless multi-cutter
The GOP 18 V-EC Professional oscillating multi-cutter from Bosch works with a degree of efficiency of more than 80 percent. Conventional DC electric motors achieve only 60 to 70 percent. This low-vibration tool is a reliable and versatile assistant for different adjustment, trimming and repair jobs. It can be used, for example, to make plunge cuts in soft or hard wood, adjust door frames, sand furniture in hard-to-reach areas, or trim jammed nails. The cordless multi-cutter is well balanced, sits comfortably in your hand and has an especially powerful 4.0 Ah battery with CoolPack technology. Its SDS system enables quick, tool-free changing of accessories with the OIS standard (Oscillating Interface System).

Already available in the Bosch professional range:
GBH 36 V-LI Compact Professional cordless rotary hammer
The GBH 36 V-LI Compact Professional cordless rotary hammer weighs only 2.9 kilograms, is very compact and drills up to 100 holes with dimensions of 6 x 40 millimeters in concrete with one battery charge. It offers an impact energy of 1.8 joules, a speed of up to 1,500 revolutions per minute and drills holes of up to maximum 18 millimeters in diameter in concrete and 30 millimeters in wood. Its anti-vibration system ensures strength-saving work with low user fatigue.

GBH 18 V-EC Professional cordless rotary hammer
The GBH 18 V-EC Professional offers professional tradespeople the best power-to-weight ratio of all cordless rotary hammers in the 18 volt class available on the market. It weighs only 2.6 kilograms and achieves a single impact energy of 1.7 joules. Its maximum drilling diameter is 18 millimeters.
