Stuttgart/Reutlingen, Germany – The results speak for themselves: After 58.5 hours in the saddle, 1036 kilometers ridden, 6953 vertical meters climbed, and an average of 11.5 full battery recharging cycles per person, participants in the e2rad eBike European tour reached the destination of Brussels last Friday, May 10. Eight students, a professor from the University of Cooperative Education Ravensburg, and employees of the main sponsor Bosch eBike Systems started a week before in Friedrichshafen. Over the next eight days, the group toured through six countries without any ac-cidents or major technical defects. Thanks to the powerful Bosch drives and Bosch PowerPack 400 batteries, the cyclists were able to easily with-stand fierce headwinds, rain, and steep climbs. The eBike fans reached their destination with an average speed of 21 km/h. At the official closing ceremony of the tour in the Belgian capital, they were received by the EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger for exchange of experiences and the opportunity to take eBikes for test rides on the forecourt of the EU Par-liament. In addition, on Saturday, May 11, the group built an eBike test course for interested passers-by at the Brussels train station.

The Ravensburger University project e2rad has been in existence since 2008 and is led by students majoring in industrial engineering. With actions like this year’s Eu-ropean tour, the cyclists would like to increase awareness on the issue of electromobility among the population and explain the benefits of eBikes.

You will find a detailed final report and numerous pictures of the eBike Eu-ropean tour in the coming days at
