press release

In future, small angle grinders from Bosch will also be available with a deadman switch called the “Protection Switch”. The tools only operate as long as the switch is being pressed. If the switch is released, the machines immediately shut down. Bosch is therefore launching angle grinders onto the market that make it easy for safety engineers in the industrial sector to meet the increasingly high requirements of work safety. This applies especially to applications in refineries, on oil platforms and in crane, ship, tank and container construction, i.e. sectors in which high safety standards apply.

Full control in every working position
The “Protection Switch” offers a major advantage compared to conventional deadman switches: it is designed so that the switch can be operated over the entire length of the handle – regardless of whether the angle grinder is held at the front, back or in the middle. As a result, users always have full control over the tool even in difficult working positions.

The angle grinders offer power ratings of 1 100 to 1 500 watts. They enable fast work progress, have a tool-free adjustable protective guard, an ergonomic design and a large spindle lock button for quick and easy accessory changes. Like the angle grinders without “Protection Switch”, they continue to offer a long tool lifetime and carbon brush lifetime.

The right model for every application
The GWS 11-125 P Professional can be used universally in different trades. Using the appropriate accessories, it is possible to perform applications such as cutting steel pipes and profiles to length, removing welded seams, deburring molded parts, and cutting stone and tiles.

The GWS 12-125 CIP Professional and GWS 15-125 CIP Professional models stand for consistent performance even in the toughest applications; for example in ship building, on major construction sites or in steel construction. In addition to the new “Protection Switch”, they are equipped with an extensive range of protection features: Vibration Control, Kick-Back Stop, soft start and restart protection.

The small angle grinders with “Protection Switch” will be available at retail outlets from May 2013 onwards. The prices range from 135 euros for the GWS 11-125 P Professional and 199 euros for the GWS 15-125 CIP Professional. All prices are excluding VAT. Bosch also offers an extensive range of accessories for small angle grinders. This includes cutting, flap, diamond and grinding discs, brushes, and dust extraction guards.
