press release

Stuttgart/Reutlingen, Germany – No other system provider has created such a stir in the eBike industry over the past three years as Bosch eBike Systems has, and with the innovations unveiled at EUROBIKE 2012 the Reutlingen-based systems experts are set to take eBike fans to their destination at even greater ease.

With the new 400 Wh PowerPack 400 battery, Bosch system eBikers will go even further in the future. eBikers will also love the new Intuvia onboard computer and control unit. As the new 2013 system’s informative, self-explanatory control centre the "brain" gets the maximum out of the optimally coordinated components.

The components in detail:
Drive Unit Cruise (25 km/h) & Drive Unit Speed (45 km/h)

The compact drive unit ensures lasting, sporting, fun cycling. It contains the motor, the transmission, the control electronics and the sensorics. While the powerful motor delivers direct thrust, the electronic controls with their three torque, cadence and speed sensors do what the cyclist wants immediately, yet do so most unobtrusively. The robust, maintenancefree drive unit comes with built-in protection from flying stones and splashing water and is available in two versions. The Drive Unit Cruise provides pedal assistance up to a speed of 25 km/h. Those who prefer speedier, sportier cycling will prefer the Drive Unit Speed, which only cuts out – automatically – on reaching the statutory speed limit of 45 km/h. When buying their eBike, future eBikers will be able to pick and choose. Bosch eBike systems are used by a wide range of models and over 40 bicycle brands and are ideally suitable for bikes with either chain or hub gears.

More power, more fun:
PowerPack 300 and 400

The long-lasting PowerPack 300 and PowerPack 400 batteries guarantee optimal support and pack sufficient punch for long rides. The PowerPack 400 excels with a 30% wider range than its smaller sibling with a comparable weight and the same compact size. Safety is written large at Bosch. The batteries are securely protected from overcharging, low voltage, overheating and short circuits. Depending on the mode used and on cycling style and conditions, the two PowerPacks have an average range of between 45 and 85 kilometres (Drive Unit Cruise and PowerPack 300) and between 60 and 110 kilometres (Drive Unit Cruise and PowerPack 400). To ensure that power-assisted cycling can be resumed as soon as possible, the PowerPack 300 and PowerPack 400 can be fully recharged in a maximum of two and a half or three and a half hours respectively. Using the new, quiet charger, the batteries are 80% recharged in one and a half (300) or two and a half hours (400) respectively. Each is available in black in a frame- or a rear carrier-mounted version, with the frame-mounted PowerPack also available in white.

Everything in full view and under (computer) control:

Intuvia is the drive system’s "brain" and the link between human and machine. The on-board computer with its separate control unit fitted to the handle offers the cyclist a choice of five assistance modes – simply by pressing a button and without needing to take your hand off the handlebar. And the smart on-board computer is so easy to use that neither lengthy instructions nor time to get used to it are required. Intuvia also controls the new pushing aid, which eBikers will learn to love, especially when transporting heavy loads or scaling steep ascents. eBikers do not need to go without their mp3 player or mobile phone en route. The built-in USB interface powers them. The perfect-to-read display incorporates features such as range, trip distance and time taken along with information about motor performance, the time and maximum and average speeds. At 140 grams the Intuvia is a true lightweight and the ideal on-board computer for relaxed cycle touring. With Intuvia in its "off-board" mode, the user can also evaluate the data directly after dismounting.
