press release

Munich – In 2011, the management team of Xi’an Xianyang International Airport, Western China, sought a partner to deliver increased security for its recently expanded premises. Bosch Security System won the tender and subsequently provided a Bosch Video Management System (BVMS), more than 400 sets of indoor/outdoor encoders, over 3,500 loudspeaker and more than 1,600 cameras throughout the airport. As well as reaching the required level of security, Xi’an Xianyang International Airport Terminal 3 is the first one in the Western Aviation Group to use digital solutions.

The Video Management System (BVMS) from Bosch is a digital video platform that provides seamless control of digital video, audio and security data transmitted across an IP network. It smoothly combines Bosch IP cameras, encoders and recording systems, removing the complexity involved in supporting several cameras and recording technologies. All live and archived video data can be viewed at any location on single or multiple workstations. The platform provides an interface and configuration designed for the Chinese market, based on the Windows system. At Xi’an Xianyang International Airport Terminal 3, BVMS simultaneously links and combines access control, security information, flying zone alarms, a perimeter alarm as well as other systems to guarantee the airport management team can react quickly to accidents or other occurrences.
The cameras installed at the airport belong to the latest series of video surveillance equipment from Bosch. They range from indoor/outdoor pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) AutoDome cameras, via indoor dome to high definition (HD) cameras.

Safe storage
One of the key requirements made by the customer for Bosch was that the new data storage system had to be both easy to access and reliable. “At Xi’an Xianyang International Airport Terminal 3 we combined the network storage server and the disk array (FC-SAN) to ensure safe protection of the data,” says Leo Chen, video surveillance product manager, Bosch Security Systems China. “With the airport’s Terminal 3 and the IT management center, we now have two complementary backup solutions of video storage.”

Service beyond installation
Throughout the entire project, a service task force, composed of the north region sales team and the product marketing department from Bosch Security Systems China, was stationed at the airport. The team supported the airport management staff during the transition period from the old to the new system and provided hands-on help and expertise in case of any problems. Even after the completion of the project, Bosch provided continuous support for customer service.
