press release

For many years now, the thrilling races and attractive event program at the Hockenheim Historic have been drawing fans of vintage and classic cars to the Hockenheimring each spring. Last year, around 25,000 visitors aged between 8 and 80 attended the event. With Bosch as the new main sponsor, this year's historic racing event, which runs from April 13 to 15, will be held under the new name "Bosch Hockenheim Historic". The Bosch Classic division Automotive Tradition brings the Bosch slogan-"Invented for life"-alive at the Hockenheimring. The Bosch team will be on hand in the enthusiasts' club area to offer expert knowledge and advice and answer questions from the vintage car fans on subjects including spare parts supply and services. 150 owners of vintage cars that are older than 15 years can park their car in the designated area. World Record Attempt: “The Largest Moving Automotive Museum in the World”
A special highlight of this year’s “Bosch Hockenheim Historic” is the world record attempt to create “the largest moving automotive museum in the world”, which will take place on Saturday April 14. To secure a place in the Guinness Book of Records, at least 949 classic cars built in or before the year 1982 must make one lap of the 4574-kilometer Grand Prix circuit. The current record is 948 classic cars. Therefore the support of all classic car owners for the world record attempt is welcome. A Bosch Brand Tradition
Bosch Automotive Tradition’s involvement in the “Bosch Hockenheim Historic” highlights the company’s history and tradition. In fact, Bosch took part in the opening of the Hockenheimring back in 1932. At the time, the bend before the start and home straights was nicknamed the "Boschkurve" (Bosch bend).

The "Bosch Hockenheim Historic" is accompanied by the caption "Jim Clark Revival" – in memory of the two-time Formula 1 World Champion who suffered fatal injuries during a race at the Hockenheimring on April 7, 1968. By adding this caption, event organizers are creating a link to the popular Jim Clark Memorial race that was held from 1969 to 1985.

Activities of Bosch Classic Division Automotive Tradition
Besides its involvement in the "Bosch Hockenheim Historic", the Bosch Classic division Automotive Tradition is also a joint organizer of the "Bosch Boxberg Klassik" (Bosch Boxberg Classic) rally, which has grown to become one of the most popular classic rallies in Germany in recent years. The Bosch Boxberg Klassik 2012 kicks off on June 29 and runs until July 1. Bosch Automotive Tradition also organizes the spare parts supply for vintage cars, for example by remanufacturing parts that are in particular demand in accordance with the original documentation. The Bosch Classic division has built up an extensive knowledge database on vintage and classic cars.
