press release

The Ixo from Bosch is known for being a small, lightweight, handy trendsetter. Now you can drive screws even more powerfully and faster with this handy tool. Equipped with a new motor, new electronics and a new battery cell, the Ixo delivers 30 percent more torque. It has a speed of 215 instead of the previous 180 revolutions per minute. This makes it really easy to tighten or loosen screws up to five millimeters in diameter. Since its market launch, the smallest screwdriver in the DIY range has not only sold about eleven million units, it has also continuously improved: its battery capacity has increased, it has expanded into a system with angle screw adapter, off-set angle adapter and torque setting adapter, and it has caused quite a sensation with its special editions such as the Ixo Vino or the Ixo Swarovski.

Continuously high power thanks to lithium-ion battery
The tool is powered by a 3.6 volt lithium-ion battery, which now has 1.5 instead of 1.3 ampere hours capacity. This enables over 80 screws to be driven per battery charge. Moreover, the Ixo is always ready to use thanks to lithium-ion technology because it has no self-discharge or memory effect. Interim charging is also possible. A charge level indicator shows the current battery status.

Integrated work light and comfortable handling
The “PowerLight”, an LED in the screwdriver head, reliably lights up dark areas during use. A softgrip surface ensures secure handling and comfortable operation of the cordless screwdriver. The Ixo is ideal for flat-pack furniture, small repairs, modelmaking and hobby work. At 300 grams, it is a lightweight tool that also excels due to its compact design and good ergonomics. These features make this cordless screwdriver comfortable to handle.

The new Ixo will be available at retail outlets from May 2012 onwards in the following sets:
· as a “Premium” version with charger, ten screwdriver bits, angle screw adapter and off-set angle adapter for 69.99 euros,
· as a “Medium” version without off-set angle adapter for 59.99 euros,
· as a “Basic” version without adapters for 49.99 euros.
All of the sets are packaged in an attractive metal box.
