press release

With the GCL 25 Professional, Bosch is launching a measuring instrument onto the market that combines the advantages of the point laser and line laser in one instrument: this combination laser simultaneously projects five laser points onto floor, ceiling and walls and two crossed lines onto the wall in front of it. These can be used to easily, quickly and precisely align fittings and installations.

Broad application range in different trades
The GCL 25 Professional has a wide range of applications: not only electricians but also plumbers, joiners or drywallers requiring right angles to be able to lay cables and pipes, position fittings or line up stud walls. Transferring plumb points is also one of its applications, for example to transfer a lighting grid from the floor to the ceiling or to position a suspended cabinet over the center of a counter. Where you previously needed two instruments, you now only need the combination laser. It also enables you to transfer plumb points and simultaneously mark installation lines on walls in only one operation. Even inclines can be projected, which makes it easier for staircase builders, for example to align handrail.

Operation of the combination laser is self-explanatory. There are only two buttons: one for switching on and off, the other for switching the laser points and the individual laser lines on and off. The laser points are clearly visible indoors and outdoors up to 30 meters, the crossed laser lines up to ten meters. Once the tool has been switched on, it levels itself in less than four seconds. If automatic leveling is not possible, for example because the surface supporting the measuring instrument deviates from the horizontal by more than four degrees, the combination laser will use a flashing light to warn you. This “Out-of-level” function ensures error-free alignment. The typical leveling accuracy is 0.3 millimeters per meter. When the instrument is switched off, the pendulum is locked and protected during transport.

With dimensions of about 15 x 6 x 12 centimeters and a weight of only 600 grams, the GCL 25 Professional combination laser is very compact and lightweight. Its housing is ergonomically shaped, robust, and dust and splash-protected to IP54. An LED display informs about the charging state of the batteries. Moreover, threads for 1/4" camera tripods and 5/8" building tripods are integrated into the base of the instrument.

The GCL 25 Professional combination laser will be available at traditional trade outlets from September 2012 onwards in the following versions:
