press release

The GSL 2 Professional surface laser from Bosch is a world first. It enables you to see surface irregularities on the floor at a glance: two laser lines show the user immediately whether it contains depressions or elevations. The inspection method covers the entire surface continuously, and it is easy, fast and reliable.

Until now, screed layers, floorers and tilers have relied on traditional inspection methods such as a caliber, a spirit level and a water level gage to check the evenness of a floor, or they have used rotation and line lasers to do so. But even these measuring instruments cannot map the complete floor surface of a room. The GSL 2 Professional surface laser with its 360-degree rotating laser head is the first instrument to enable this to be done. It projects two laser lines onto the floor surface. If the surface is even, the two lines meet on the floor and are perceived as one line. However, the slightest surface irregularity will cause the lines to deviate from each other and you will see both laser lines.

Easy handling
The GSL 2 Professional is easy to operate. First of all, you select a reference point to check the floor evenness, for example at the door. Once it is switched on, the GSL 2 Professional automatically levels itself within four seconds and instantly begins to work. All the user has to do is observe the laser lines and mark any deviations on the surface. Using the remote control, this observation can be done from different positions in the room and repeated numerous times. The target plate, which comes complete with the instrument, is used at the marked positions: it shows at a glance whether the deviations are depressions or elevations and how great the height difference is to the reference point.

The leveling accuracy of the surface laser is 0.3 millimeters per meter, and the working range with a target plate is 20 meters. Its remote control RC 2 Professional also has the same range. The instrument can be powered either by the supplied 10.8 volt lithium-ion battery, which is compatible with all professional tools in this voltage class from Bosch, or by four non-rechargeable batteries.

The GSL 2 Professional will be available at traditional trade outlets from September 2012 onwards at the recommended retail price of 399 euros. It is supplied in the L-Boxx including 10.8 volt lithium-ion battery, charger, remote control with non-rechargeable batteries, target plate and red laser glasses.
