press release

Bosch is expanding its range of lithium-ion cordless tools to include two powerful and compact planers: the GHO 14,4 V-LI Professional and the GHO 18 V-LI Professional. They weigh only 2.5 and 2.6 kilograms respectively, making them the lightest planers in the 14.4 and 18 volt class. It is therefore easy for professional tradesmen to use them flexibly on the jobsite, for example to perform classical adjustment work such as planing down door leaves. These tools sit comfortably in your hand even in vertical applications thanks to their optimized handle ergonomics, and they achieve precise results. Their easily reachable lock-off switch ensures improved safety and comfort.

Functional features for precise work
Both cordless planers work with an easy-to-change and long-life “Woodrazor” reversible blade, which is extremely sharp and wear-resistant thanks to its carbide cutting edges. A robust aluminum base plate ensures high precision. It is 82 millimeters wide and has three V-grooves for easy and flexible chamfering. In addition to this, both tools have a precise and easy-to-read scale that can be used to continuously adjust the depth of cut to up to 1.6 millimeters. The chip clearance direction can be set to either the right or left, depending on the requirements of the work situation.

The cordless planers are powered by high-performance lithium-ion batteries in the 14.4 or 18 volt class. These batteries have a capacity of three ampere hours and a charge level indicator which can be used at any time to see how much energy is left. If the battery needs charging, it can be recharged to 70 percent in only 15 minutes and fully recharged in 30 minutes thanks to the quick charger.

Bosch Premium batteries with “Electronic Cell Protection”
The long lifetime of the lithium-ion batteries is thanks to the “Electronic Cell Protection” (ECP). It protects the battery against overload, overheating and deep discharge. There is no memory effect and the batteries are even ready for use if they have not been used for a long time.

The GHO 14,4 V-LI Professional and GHO 18 V-LI Professional cordless planers will be available at specialist retail outlets from May 2012 onwards in the L-Boxx. They come complete with two 3 Ah batteries and a quick charger. The recommended retail prices are 469 euros for the 14.4 volt version and 499 euros for the tool with 18 volts. The prices are excluding VAT.
