Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago begins with focus on IoT projects in digital transformation and smart cities

- IoT technology and business strategy thought leaders, experts and analysts to present at the conference - Speakers to showcase real-world IoT applications and opportunities for future innovation - Focus on connected systems, digital transformation and smart city IoT solutions for the first day of the event CHICAGO – Today, Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, kicks off its Bosch ConnectedWorld Internet of Things event in Chicago with a series of keynotes and panel discussions centered on connected systems, digital transformation and smart cities. From disrupting business models to the role of Big Data in connecting systems, the agenda for the first day of Bosch ConnectedWorld brings leaders in business and technology together to discuss how the IoT is and will continue to drive innovation. “With Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago beginning today, the real-world, practical advancement of the Internet of Things is taking center stage,” said Matt Jennings, regional president of the Americas for Bosch Software Innovations. “Today’s speakers and sessions are centered on the impact industries and businesses are already feeling as a result of digital strategies and the disruptive nature of IoT, and the innovation opportunities presented by that disruption.” The opening keynote session featuring Rainer Kallenbach, CEO, Bosch Software Innovations and William Ruh, CEO, GE Digital will set the stage for the Bosch ConnectedWorld event by discussing success factors for IoT. GE Digital and Bosch announced the organizations are working together on the topics of interoperability and open source collaboration. The memorandum of understanding focuses on technology interoperability and platform integration through GE’s Predix platform and the Bosch IoT Suite. Penske brings data-driven connected mobility to life Today’s panel featuring Richard Hook, senior vice president and CIO of Penske Automotive Group; Tim Cindric, president of Penske Racing; and Will Power, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet as part of the Verizon IndyCar Series, will discuss the very real impact that digital strategies and IoT technologies are having across the Penske organization, underscoring the fact that IoT technologies are already changing the way businesses operate. After an opening presentation by Hook on the digital strategy at Penske, the group will highlight the value of data across a number of areas of Penske, including the value of data in today’s world of automotive racing. Designing the city of the future The intersection of mobility into smart cities will also be examined as part of a panel featuring Danielle DuMerer, first deputy commissioner and chief technology officer of the city of Chicago, as well as representatives from FivePoint, Cityzenith, The Impact Lab and Sidewalk Labs. The panel will examine how successful smart cities have implemented strategies and solutions to create sustainable, connected and safe environments while discussing what solutions and strategies worked for them as well as trends and challenges facing today’s cities making the transformation. “Bosch ConnectedWorld brings together thought leaders from across industries to discuss what is core to Chicago’s tech plan: how can we leverage technology to fuel opportunity, inclusion, engagement, and innovation in our cities and beyond,” said Danielle DuMerer, first deputy commissioner and chief technology officer of the city of Chicago. “The Connecting Smart Cities track will provide valuable insights about how cross-sector partnerships and new business models promise to better integrate connected technologies into cities—and ultimately deliver greater value to our residents, businesses, and visitors. Analyst and author Maribel Lopez will chair the “Driving Digital Transformation” session, where Lopez and executives from Dell and Walgreens will cover how industries and businesses are dealing with the impact and opportunities presented by digital transformation powered by the IoT. Attendees will discover how designing and building IoT-empowered products and services can benefit their smart operations and customer engagement. Lopez will also moderate a panel with Rainer Kallenbach, CEO, Bosch Software Innovations and Heiko Fischer, President and CEO, Bosch Tool Corporation on the digital transformation at Bosch and the key takeaways from the journey. IoT and Big Data can feel like the latest IT buzzwords, but during the “In the Spotlight: IoT and Big Data” session, Rahul Kapoor, Senior Director, Big Data Analytics, Robert Bosch LLC and speakers from MongoDB and IBM will discuss how they are interrelated and set to transform business models. Attendees will find out what opportunities Big Data presents to businesses, where it can make the biggest impact and what barriers to avoid. An expert panel with executives from Oracle, ZingBox, Open Data Group and Bosch will then discuss how they have created success in IoT using Big Data. The IoT is quickly becoming a key differentiating factor in global competition, and during the “Creating Innovative Business Models” session, executives from Bain & Company, Local Motors and CN2P will present on the innovative ways organizations are capitalizing on interactions between connected products, machines and services to create collaborative business models and unique applications such as the role wearable devices can play on the factory floor.
