HOUSTON – Bosch Rexroth marked the opening of its new Marine and Offshore Technology and Service Center in Houston with a ribbon-cutting and facility tour for customers and local officials, including Houston Mayor Pro-Tem Ed Gonzalez. The new technology and service center provides engineering services, product sales, training and system support for hydraulics and controls technologies used in marine, offshore and industrial applications. The 28,080 square-foot investment houses 14 expert applications engineers, project engineers, technicians and managers trained and certified to deliver high-quality Rexroth service and support. The company plans to hire additional specialists later this year and in 2014. As a center of excellence for the companys activities in the marine and offshore industries, the facility is equipped with resources to develop custom drive and control solutions and offer technical and product support. In addition, the new technology center provides state-of-the-art repair, warranty and maintenance resources for hydraulic pumps and motors, for large hydraulic cylinders, and for hydraulic motors and systems from the companys Hägglunds product range. Bosch Rexroth Americas President and CEO, Berend Bracht, said the opening of the new center is the latest step in the Rexroth plan to locate technology hubs and service centers near key customers. Houston is a main location for the U.S. oil and gas industries and the Rexroth facility is strategically located to provide easy access for offshore installations and for other hydraulics customers in the Southwest, said Bracht.
Field service plays a major role at the facility as well, with offshore-certified service technicians ready to support products and systems at customer locations. Bosch Rexroth also works closely with its distributor partner in the Southwest region, Womack Machine Supply (www.womackmachine.com), to develop service and repair programs for hydraulics users, including market-driven lead times for quotation, repair and return of products to customers, along with emergency repair programs and field service.
In addition to Houston, Bosch Rexroth also has service centers for industrial and mobile hydraulic components located in Bethlehem, PA; Fountain Inn, SC; Lake Zurich, IL; Columbus, OH; and Dallas, TX. Other recent programs contributing to The Drive & Control Companys growth include the opening of its largest North American hydraulics production campus in Fountain Inn, SC; the expansion of its Charlotte, NC, linear motion and assembly products facility; and the GoTo Focused Delivery Program, which provides industry-best lead times for delivery of more than 4,200 in-demand Rexroth drive, control and motion products.
