Cordless lithium-ion screwdriver IXO from 2004

“IXO” – the world’s first cordless screwdriver with lithium-ion battery. When Bosch launched the “IXO” in 2003, it was the world’s first cordless screwdriver with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This handy, innovative device is ideal for the numerous little household tasks involving the assembly and installation of items with screws. One advantage of the new battery over the NiCd batteries that were previously the norm is its very low self-discharge rate. Once charged, most of the energy is still available even after a whole year lying idle, so the “IXO” is always ready to use. What’s more, there is no memory effect with lithium-ion batteries, so the battery capacity always remains the same. Another advantage is the particularly compact design of the battery cells, which are around 30 to 40 percent lighter than comparable NiCd cells. The “IXO” has a total weight of just 300 grams.
