Chicago/Detroit – With increasing pressure to reduce downtime, control operating costs and maximize vehicle uptime, AI-driven predictive maintenance is rapidly becoming a critical competitive differentiator for fleet management. To accelerate its leadership in data-driven vehicle health services, Bosch today announced plans to acquire Uptake Technologies, Inc., a startup based in Chicago, Illinois, specializing in AI-based predictive analytics for commercial fleets. Bosch and Uptake Technologies have agreed not to disclose financial details of the transaction.
With the acquisition of Uptake, Bosch is bringing a market leader in predictive maintenance with a 10-year history of delivering predictive AI maintenance solutions to fleets into its expanding portfolio of software services. As the largest automotive supplier in the world according to Automotive News with expansive expertise in system competence and diagnostics, Bosch is uniquely positioned to support Uptake’s mission of providing actionable insights to fleets that help to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
“This planned acquisition strengthens our position as a leader in data-driven mobility services. The AI capabilities from Uptake Technologies are a crucial element to expanding our predictive maintenance offerings and accelerating innovation for OEM and fleet customers,” said Paul Thomas, president of Bosch in North America and president of Bosch Mobility Americas.
Adam McElhinney, CEO at Uptake Technologies added, “Joining forces with Bosch will allow us to scale our AI-driven vehicle health solutions faster and deliver even greater value to the market. Together, our goal is to combine our predictive analytics tools to transform how vehicle maintenance is managed and optimized, not just for fleets, but for OEMs as well.”
For Bosch, the planned acquisition is intended to accelerate the company’s predictive maintenance and vehicle health services capabilities by advancing go-to-market timelines and expanding fleet services offerings. The goal is to offer a full end-to-end solution. By combining the Uptake AI-driven predictive maintenance solution with data from broadly deployed Bosch Connectivity Hub (C-Hub) vehicle telematics and then connecting to the Bosch FleetME ecosystem, the resulting actionable insights help fleets reduce maintenance costs and increase uptime.
Founded in 2014, Uptake Technologies has built deep expertise in predictive analytics across multiple industries and is now a leader in AI-powered predictive maintenance for fleet operations. Its technology leverages advanced AI and machine learning techniques to deliver actionable maintenance insights that help fleets prevent component and vehicle failures. Predictions are paired with recommendations based on severity and cost impact, providing actionable insights optimizing parts planning and maintenance workflows. A closed feedback loop from completed repairs further strengthens and validates system accuracy. Upon closing, it is intended that the company’s associates will be integrated into Bosch.
