Stuttgart/Reutlingen – On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of drive systems from Bosch eBike Systems, selected manufacturers have designed a number of exclusive anniversary bikes. The eBikes are limited edition models from established eBike manufacturers and were selected as part of a competition. In addition to the unique designs produced solely for the competition, the bicycles also contain special elements in honour of the Bosch anniversary. The bikes represent the successful cooperation between Bosch and the bicycle manufacturers and reflect the creativity and diversity found in the eBike segment.

Competition announced for manufacturers

For a decade now, Bosch eBike Systems has been setting new standards with high quality drive systems for eBikes and using innovative solutions to shape the future of bicycle mobility. Bosch unveiled its first production-ready eBike drive system at Eurobike 2010 and commenced series production shortly after. Model year 2021 marks ten years that the systems have been on the market - a market that has developed rapidly and that continues to show strong growth. To celebrate this anniversary, Bosch eBike Systems launched a competition at Taichung Bike Week 2018: Pedelec manufacturers who install eBike systems from Bosch were invited to submit suggestions for innovative anniversary bikes.

Exclusive and creative: The anniversary bikes

The special anniversary bikes are only produced by the prize-winning manufacturers in limited numbers. One of Bosch's requirements was that certain pre-defined products had to be used. The winners chose the new Nyon on-board computer, available from autumn 2020, including for retrofitting by specialist dealers. The bikes are equipped with a special anniversary version of Nyon and the Performance Line and Performance Line CX drive units also feature an anniversary design. A Bosch jury evaluated the entries received across a number of different categories: Future Design, Unique Character and Bosch Heritage. Cannondale, Cube and Moustache emerged as the winning manufacturers.

Cannondale: Lean and powerful on a variety of terrains

Cannondale won the "Future Design" category with a special model of the "Topstone Neo Carbon Lefty LE". In visual terms, this racer appears particularly lean and powerful with the perfectly integrated Performance Line CX and the black and copper paint finish. To ensure speed is equalled by comfort on all surfaces, the eGravel bike has concealed full suspension with 30 mm of sprung travel. It is designed for versatile riders who do not want to be limited to a single application or a specific terrain. "Bosch and Cannondale have been partners in the eBike world from the very start," said Henning Schröder, Senior Vice President Product Development at Cannondale. “Over the past ten years, Bosch has continuously expanded the scope of what we all thought was possible with the eBike. We want to pay tribute to this achievement with a special bike that challenges the status quo and inspires its riders to go further than ever before." The special model of the "Topstone Neo Carbon Lefty LE" will be available in a limited edition of 50 from the middle of September 2020 at European Cannondale retailers (9,499 euros RRP).

Cube: State-of-the art eMountain bike with an unusual design

Cube emerged as the winning manufacturer in the "Unique Character" category. The limited special edition of the "Stereo Hybrid 140 29" shows how eMountain bikes have developed in recent years. As well as Nyon, the latest CX motor is also installed, and the shifting system and dropper seatpost are all electrified and wireless. The chassis, wheels, brakes and tyres are perfectly adapted to eMTB conditions. A special High Performance Composite (HPC) carbon frame with sophisticated geometry and kinematics brings together all components to create a top-class technical virtuoso. Nico Lindner, eBike Product Manager at Cube, says: "Bosch laid the foundations for a revolution with the first eBike drive system ten years ago, leading to tangible and sustainable change throughout a whole industry. Our special Stereo Hybrid 140 29 model reflects this change. The unusual design and attention to detail make the limited special model from Cube an absolute highlight for the upcoming season." The sale price is 9,999 euros (RRP). Any Cube dealers interested can apply for one of the special models, which are a limited edition of 99. In the end it will be the luck of the draw.

Moustache: The eBike as a work of art, or "10 years of pure life"

The “Bosch Heritage” category was about designing a bike that focuses on the special partnership between the manufacturer and Bosch eBike Systems. The winner is French brand Moustache, which presents an anniversary model of the "Friday 28 Travel" as a work of art that represents "10 years of pure life". The anniversary bike echoes a special story from the early days of cooperation between the two brands: Bosch's Account Manager responsible for Moustache rode an eBike from the former Bosch production site in Mondeville to the headquarters of Bosch eBike Systems in Reutlingen, also paying a visit to Moustache in Rambervillers, where the business was founded. Emmanuel Antonot, CEO at Moustache, explains: "The anniversary bike is intended as a way of taking this journey all over again. Exploring new avenues, expanding one's horizons, spending quality time with friends, having fun eBiking - in other words, what we have been doing for ten years. For us, the ten years of working with Bosch have been ten years full of fantastic experiences."
In the Hidden Power concept, the manufacturer of the “smiling machines” has elegantly incorporated a Bosch PowerPack 500 into the frame. In addition, the special "Friday 28 Travel" model has space for additional batteries, enabling the route from Mondeville to Reutlingen to be covered without having to recharge. Ten very special bikes will be produced, each with an individual paint job designed by the two artists Vincent Loisy and Loick Gravier alias Sakew. The bikes are to be auctioned off, with the revenues going to good causes.
