press release

Bosch Power Tools is undertaking a voluntary safety measure for a limited number of sanders. This includes models in the orbital sander PSS series that were manufactured between June and August 2007. On the tools affected, a material defect occurs on the ventilation wheel. This could cause a break of the device housing and smaller parts of the ventilation wheel could be ejected. It cannot be ruled out that this could lead to injuries. Further, live components could be exposed which in a worst case scenario could result in a life-threatening electric shock. However, the manufacturer is not aware of such cases.

In order to fulfill its responsibility to its customers, Bosch Power Tools has initiated this voluntary safety measure as a precaution. Users can check whether their orbital sander is affected on the website sandercare.com. Alternatively, users can contact a call center which has been specially set up for this purpose on the following toll-free number: 00800 83 646 704. Potentially affected tools must no longer be used or given away. Bosch Power Tools is offering a replacement free of charge and apologizes for any inconvenience that this safety measure may cause.
