Berlin – As of now, Bosch IoT Suite 2.0 (previously Bosch Software Innovations Suite) is immediately available. The Suite supplies the technology for applications in the Internet of Things (IoT) and provides all of the necessary functions required for pooling devices, users, companies, and partners on an IoT platform. Its integrated approach makes it easier to efficiently develop innovative and sustainable solutions for a connected world. New is the Big Data Processing component (BDP), which makes it possible to analyze immense amounts of data. It represents a key additional aspect to our platform for IoT applications: targeted data analysis for the benefit of consumers and businesses.

“As a lead provider and user of IoT and especially Industry 4.0 technologies, Bosch offers its customers and partners the chance to make use of fully mature and tested solutions. The Bosch IoT Suite is also the central software platform for Internet of Things solutions within the Bosch Group,” says Dr.-Ing. Rainer Kallenbach, CEO of Bosch Software Innovations.

Data analysts can now examine and evaluate the huge amounts of data created by IoT applications using the integrated data mining and data analytics technology from KNIME.COM. By means of graphical modeling – an approach used in all Bosch IoT Suite components – users without extensive IT skills can also access, transform, and analyze the data, for instance to make forecasts and, as needed, customize products and services.

“Now that we have expanded the Bosch IoT Suite by adding the Big Data Processing component, our customers and partners can come up with completely new data-based solutions in the future. Not only can sensors and devices now be analyzed within one platform, but customer master data and process data can too. We’ve placed great value on security and privacy because, in the internet age, trust is as important as ever,” says Dr. Stefan Ferber, Vice President Engineering at Bosch Software Innovations.

Another advantage to the new version is that it allows more efficient development, deployment, and operation of cloud-based IoT applications. Above all, application developers benefit from the Bosch IoT Suite’s wide range of functions: It is easy to integrate devices, mobile devices, and third-party systems, and it makes defining and implementing necessary processes and rules for new or optimized business models user-friendly. This is facilitated through the close integration of the Suite’s components: Device Management (M2M), Business Process Management (BPM), Business Rules Management (BRM), and the new Big Data Processing (BDP).

About big data
IoT applications produce significant amounts of data thanks to the increased networking of sensors and devices, for example security cameras, vehicles, and production machinery. Various products and services constantly generate use data while in operation. This could be data from a car’s umpteen million braking maneuvers or data from a manufacturing plant. Using powerful software that can meaningfully analyze and interpret it, this data can be used as the basis for new services to make conventional product development and maintenance more efficient in the future. Braking systems will become faster and more effective, while service intervals for production plants will be planned in advance.

Bosch Software Innovations, the Bosch Group's software and systems house, designs, develops, and operates innovative software and system solutions that help our customers around the world both in the Internet of Things (IoT) and in the traditional enterprise environment. We place particular focus on the topics of mobility, energy, manufacturing, and building. The Bosch IoT Suite is Bosch Software Innovations' comprehensive toolbox in the Cloud. The software package, which is provided as Platform as a Service (PaaS), allows the interaction of devices, users, companies and partners on a centralized platform. This enables the development of innovative and future-oriented solutions for new business models.

With some 600 associates worldwide, Bosch Software Innovations has locations in Germany (Berlin, Immenstaad, and Stuttgart), Singapore, China (Shanghai), and the United States (Chicago).
